I got the best Christmas gift ever from my mom this year. She drives me crazy most of the time but she gave me an awesome gift this year. A break from Holiday cooking.:woohoo::woohoo:

A little history, since I got my first place I started taking my turn to host the holidays. So it never really passed to my mom from my Grandma and Great Aunt. Starting in 2003, I just took over since Grandma and Aunt were getting older.

It takes a lot of work to do all the shopping, cooking and clean up every year. Plus I do Thankgiving and Easter. I am usually exhausted when it is all said and done.

This year, my Mom did most of the cooking for Christmas. All I had to do was fry the turkey. That was the best gift she could ever give me.

I have been working lots of hours 12 to 14 hour days working on deadlines and was really stressed about how I was going to get it done. This year, I did not have the time to even do my Christmas baking. I made my Dad bring the desserts since he and my stepmother have been eating at our family holidays since my parents got divorced and never brings a dish.

Mommy mentioned that she would do it at Thanksgiving but I didn't believe it. She came through and even washed the dishes.

Best gift that my mom ever gave me and totally free. :thumbsup2

I'm so glad that worked out for you! Were your brother's kids able to come? If I remember correctly you were trying to do something special for them this year.

That is wonderful! I always appreciate the gifts of time or of themselves more than anything someone could buy.

It is even more wonderful that you appreciate the gift so much! I know sometimes I can get so frustrated with some people that I can easily overlook when they make an effort!

They weren't able to come. I did get them their stuff for Christmas and got to see them open it but they left to go back to their old city because they couldn't find a place to stay here. It is really sad their nomadic existence but at least they are sticking together as a family. That is the only nice thing that I can say about the way they are being raised.

I got to spend some time with them and even took my niece to see Tangled. They got to open some really nice stuff and were so appreciative. I did get them a personal bag for them to store their stuff. Some cool stuff that I got at the Lego Disney store and some stuff that they needed.

All in all, Christmas was pretty good. Even my mean Grandma was nice.

:santa: Very special Christmas gift, and you all got to spend time together, that's even better! :grouphug:
