I have decided that this is our theme for this year. Best Christmas Ever. I secretly bought DH his silly Call of Duty game that he wanted so badly... along with a set of car cleaners. This morning I purchased a 60" tv for him as well.

I figure this is a good way of buttering him up so when I ask for another Disney trip, he can't say no, right? :confused3

Now I just have to figure out how to hide this tv till Christmas. Yikes!

Wow, sounds like you all are going to have an amazing Christmas morning! Dis you find a good deal on the tv??

I got a 60" lcd tv through Bestbuy.com today for $699. My Chase Freedom has 5% cashback from Best Buy this month so that knocked off that tax and it comes with free delivery. I'm planning to have the guys bring it in our basement & then I'll wrap just the front & sides and slide it into our storage room where I think I can cover it with enough totes to hide it till Christmas. I'll be amazed if I pull this off.

As for the kids I got $1000 worth of toys at Target in July when they had their big sale. I only paid $250 for everything. They're going to have one heck of a Christmas as well. They better enjoy it because next year I plan to skip all of this and just go to Disney :worship: so that will be mommy's present... lol.

Aren't you on wic....even with the savings that is a ton of money and a trip too? Wish my Xmas was that nice:worried:

2nd post about WIC in this thread, though the first (along with OP's reply) is gone now. Interesting that both posts were from poster in IL. Do you know the OP personally?

As to the "Best Christmas Ever" theme, my only advice is to beware that it may be tempting to keep that up year after year! Somehow, the following Christmas's are likely to feel like a bit of a let down if you don't. I speak from experience!;)

I don't know if I could ever do Disney in lieu of a traditional Christmas. My family likes Christmas too much! We have been in WDW at Thanksgiving and seen all the lights and special parades, etc. It is beautiful and got us in the Christmas spirit!

We were on WIC a long time ago. That was a tremendous help while I was off of work and we couldn't make ends meet. Now that we're both working and successful I'm not seeing the reason as to why this person has been following me on these boards for more than THREE YEARS. It's kinda scary to be honest. And sad that someone has nothing better to do with their time than stalk someone on a Disney message board.

I'm fortunate to be able to do this for Christmas. Not only provide a wonderful memory for my family but also donating over $200 worth of toys to kids who have nothing. I wonder how many usernames this woman has on here... :rolleyes1

Great job finding good deals op!! Hope your family has a wonderful Christmas !! And a happy thanksgiving too :) !!

HMmmnnn...
I think I will Pop some Popcorn and watch this thread...
While basting the turkey...

Well I hope there is nothing more to watch. Just because someone received public assistance (or whatever) in the past doesn't mean that they shouldn't be able to spend their money how they please now or in the future. The OP is a perfect example of how "the system" should work. Use it when there is true need, and give back when you are able.

So you used it for it intended purpose, and now are off of it? Good for you seriously, anyone that has an issue with her being on it and now off of it and doing better for herself needs to get a life.

Go troll someone who has been on it for years with no intent to get off.

Thank you everyone. I hope you all (including the 2 who've been removed from the thread already) have a wonderful holiday season. Count your blessings each and everyday. I try my hardest to make my mom proud... she has been gone 3 years next Wednesday :( How I wish she could see us now.

Good for you, I understand what you mean about your Mom, lost mine eleven years ago Christmas Eve. People do need to worry about their own problems. Hubby was let go on Nov 8, given a weeks notice. He's an ER doc but an independent contractor. I had to cancel one of our daughters seats on a marching band trip as the payment was due in full right at that time and we were uncertain about future employment time frames. Younger daughter is still going on the trip as she has fundraised. Now we are pretty certain that new job starts on Dec 1 and he has had other offers. People are a little ticked that I have a Disney trio booked for Jan 1 but its room only deposits paid and we are not out of pocket any since new job came so quickly. Live and let live is my motto. Now if we were facing uncertain job prospects I would cancel in a heartbeat. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
