Best choice for a WDW resort first-timer?

I finally talked my niece into staying at WDW with me! She's never stayed at a WDW resort before and hasn't visited WDW in many years.

We're planning on going for 2 nights for her birthday in September (she'll be 28). We're going to go to the Magic Kingdom one day and the other day we're just going to hang around and shop.

The choices for resorts are WL, AKL, or any of the moderates. Right now, DNiece is leaning towards POFQ.

Even though this will be such a short trip, I want it to be really fun and memorable for her (i.e.; I'm trying to get her hooked so I can have a Disney buddy). Which resort do you think would make the best overall first impression?

I would go with WL. Since MK is the only park you will be in, you can ride the boat there from WL. Not to mention the resort is very beautiful.

If a delux was in the budget I'd go for Poly or Cont just for the monorail experience. If not, I think POFQ is a great idea, you can take the boat over to DD and PI. DH and I love CBR, but wouldn't suggest that unless you have a car.

Wilderness Lodge is amazing. Your first step into the lobby will certainly leave a great impression. The boat ride to MK is very nice. You are just a boat ride away from CR. Hope your trip convinces her to be your Disney buddy. We all need one of those!

Wilderness Lodge. It was our first Disney Resort, and we've been hooked ever since.

Wilderness Lodge unless you can swing the Poly- so far my personal favorite. Both are easy access to the Magic Kingdom. I liked AKL when Grammy took us and we had the Savannah room, but it was too far from MK for my liking.

I would say AKL except for the fact that you're going to MK and only MK. If that's so, WL would be best.

I'd go for WL because of its proximity to MK and its grandeur, or POR because of its boatride to DTD and nighttime entertainment. She should have a great time at either one. Just let her look at some pics online and make a decision based on style. I've never gone wrong that way!!

My first vote would be for the Poly! It is a magical "1rst" resort! My second choice would be WL! It is a beautifully themed resort with easy acsess to MK!
