It's the phosphates that does the hard work. Since the Eviro is a big concern, we do not get the best results from the major brands of dishwasher or other cleaners as we did.
The best I found was the least expensive, I think it was the Electrosol, it looked lemony on the box and was a $1 cheaper.
I currently use the Aldi brand, and
Walmart brand.
Or there is home made:
With the washing soda (aka "sal soda) + salt (as an abrasive) + borax (if you have hard water) in the wash and vinegar in the rinse makes good result.
"This is one from my files
1 cup of Borax and 1 cup of baking soda, mix together in a container. Only use 2 teaspoons of the mixture , and straight vinegar in the rinse aid dispenser. That takes care of the film in my dishwasher."
And if your stuff's still not getting clean, run an empty load with a quart of white vinegar to remove hard water mineral deposits from your water jets. You may have to do that twice. OR I heard some use Tang.
Acid products like TANG will clean out plant like matter, residue in the jets,.
Alkiline line the borax, washing soda, will clean protein.
Clorox which is extremely Alkaline and will break down protein, but not the grease.
My biggest complaint is the kids putting t
oo much detergent in, FILLING to the holders when half will do a load.
Oh, do not allow the dh or children near the Dishwashing liquid, Nothing like walking into three feet of soap suds in the kitchen and it can damage the seals.
