Hey guys,

I'd love to hear your favorite off-site hotels - thinking of a last minute trip and won't be able to stay on-site. I'm looking for: clean, comfortable, safe, and proximity to parks. I'll have a car - so I can drive up to 20 minutes and it not bug me too badly.

No need for frills - just clean, cheap, safe...... you know what I'm saying.

Thanks,
PamNC

Two places that have come up recently are the Red Lion and the Clarion LBV. Both have free parking but the Red Lion charges a resort fee while the Clarion does not.

Thanks. I'll check those out. Anyone else? feel free to chime in. I've seen the Clarion LBV come up for a good price on trivago.

Someone recently got the Clarion LBV on Priceline too.

How long are you planning to stay? You could also consider staying at a timeshare villa through SkyAuction if you're staying for 5-7 days and your check-in is a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

It depends on your definition of cheap? What days are you going? You can get very excellent accommodations for what I consider cheap (<$100/nt).

yea how cheap - I have stayed in Motel 6 - for some reason the motel 6 that I liked (west side) is no longer listed on the motel 6?

I am staying now in Silver Lake for $225 for a week thru RCI - which sends stuff to Skyauction -- which will charge you a little more.

you can look at travelzoo, expedia, travelocity and this site has a nice selection with a travel agent to help you

at the travel sites ask for Disney World not Orlando or Kissimmee

When we went in 2014, we stayed at Lake Buena Vista Resort and Spa. Not too far from the parks. Beautiful hotel and awesome pool.

It was $900 for the week, but it was a 3 bdrm suite with 3 bathrooms and washer and dryer and full kitchen.

There are two new Marriott chain hotels over on Western Way that recently opened. They run $80 to $100 a night, but you get a suite, the rooms are brand new and you're going the new/back way into MK so the traffic is good. We're staying there on points for a quick getaway in a few days.

Look at Baymont Celebration - been awhile but always a decent price for a decent place.

Spiceycat , how do you like this resort and how does it compare to bonnet creek
and orange lake.
What are your thoughts on all 3 ?

I was thinking of running over next week and checking this resort out.

Silver Lake is lovely. It is as close to AK, as Bonnet Creek is to Epcot. I like it better than orange lake or bonnet creek. what I did not like about BC was their tub they did not have whirlpool tub - they had those other ones that only produce the tiny bubbles. (okay I don't remember what they are called). have a bad back and after a long day at the parks - need the other type. Now first though that Silver Lake only had those in their pool area, but found their bigger units (still a 1-bedroom) have them in their units. My reason for not liking OL was that darn traffic light and OL is much, much bigger than the other timeshares that I have stayed out. It is about twice as big as SSR (DVC's biggest). It is so big it has its own Public.

Silver Lake until Bonnet Creek was the closest offsite timeshare for WDW and was just about impossible to get (like BC) - that say it is a whole lot smaller than BC or OL. the staff here really tries. also the sales pitch here is not forced on you. can say no and at OL and BC you need to say it often. they have not even tried to at SL - a really nice change.

Spiceycat ,, is this the resort thats on Sherbooth Rd ?

Do you know if they have a lazy river ?

In talking about that new Walmart on Old Lake Wilson , I'm hoping
to see a sign saying when it will open.

Silver Lake does NOT have a lazy river. It is on Sherberth Road just ahead of AK.

yes it is on Sherberth road and black lake - the main entry is on black lake.
no lazy river

Silver lake compare to BC or OL is not even close to being large. they are redoing some of the units. Now what you saw before hand was probably those townhouses that I think are still being sold. Don't know if they sold them all. they have nothing to do with Silver Lake - they are all privately owned.

now compared to other timeshares (like Orbit one) it is large - but it has more to do than Orbit one. the larger the timeshare generally the more there is to do.
