Wondering what the best character meal would be for our family. We have boys (5&8 yrs) and would like to see a variety of characters. Also would like to eat good food. Thought about Chef Mickey but that seems to be getting some bad reviews lately.

Also, please recommend the best meal (bkfst, lunch or dinner).

We really like Chef Mickey's....Kids love the dessert bar (they eat their "real food" as well), and the atmosphere is great. I don't think you can beat the characters - the essential Disney gang!!! And DH and I find the food to be pretty darn good. Another great thing: you don't need a park ticket. We always go here our first night after arriving and unpacking. After dinner, we ride the monorail for awhile. This always starts off our trips in a very WDW way!!!

We also like LTT. Did Crystal Palace once, but found out my kids could care less about Pooh and his friends (I don't understand that, either). We ahve not done a Princess meal yet, but now that my DD is 3, I am sure one of these is in our near future....

We really enjoyed Chef Mickey's and have two reservations there for our upcoming trip.

We're also trying Liberty Tree Tavern and Crystal Palace. LTT is a first for us, but CP is an old family favorite.

Ohana's has stitch in the morning I think.

Our turned 5 and 7 when we were there last fall. We had dinner at Liberty Tree and breakfast at Ohana's (7 year old is a huge Stich fan).
Both places were great for food and service.
Our only dissapointment was we did not see Mickey at LTT (oops, mom and dad didn't do our research), and this was the meal DS5 had picked for his b-day and wanted to see Mickey. Ohana on DS7's b-day made up for it, as we saw Mickey there in addition to Lilo, Stitch, Minnie, and Pluto. DS7 was wear his Stich Mickey ears and Lilo and Stitch both made a huge fuss over him and stayed at our table for quite awhile.

I'm going to break with the crowd here and send you over to Cape May in the Beach Club resort for their character breakfast. Take a cab in the morning from your resort, and plan to do Epcot that day. It's a nice stroll from the Beach Club into Epcot, via the International Gateway. Or you could take a boat over to the Studios if that fits your plans better.

Or, if you are going to be visiting during Thanksgiving or after, book the brand new character breakfast at the Tusker House in Animal Kingdom. That should be great for boys!

I will second Cape May for breakfast at the Beach Club. It's our favorite. We have been to Chef Mickeys and 1900 Park Fare also, and agree that Cape May wins hands down! Its really clean and bright and the food was great!

Ask a simple question...you're bound to get a lot of opinions.....

We LOVE Chef M. Enjoy dinner and b'fast there. Last time we had dinner was 10/06. I hope we won't be disappointed this trip.

O'Hana is the only char meal we were really disappointed in...2x!!!! Just horrible horrible food. Over cooked bacon, runny eggs, yech. The pineapple bread was wonderful, but hardly worth the price. Char interaction was very quick compared to other places.

Also LOVE Crystal Pal...for Lunch. Char action is good, but food is the best. THe salmon is SO good. And we really enjoy knowing we have a place to sit down and relax on a busy MK day. Just the best!

This trip we're hoping to try 1900PF, LTT and Donald's in AK before it closes.

We have done Liberty Tree, Crystal Palace, Princess Brunch in Norway, and Garden Grill in Epcot. Can't say that I have been disappointed with any of them - except none of us cared for the food in Norway - but my granddaughter loved the Princesses.:wizard:

Hey, now there's 3 of us voting for Cape May CB. I've been to 1900 Park Fair, Crystal Palace, and LTT. I haven't met a character meal I really don't like, but Cape May is far and away my favorite.

My favorite character meals are:
*LTT dinner- food is really good, and good character interaction
*CP lunch/dinner- really good buffet (mashed potatoes to die for)
*CM breakfast- have not done dinner, but breakfast was good

The Poly was great when we did it.

Loved Chef Mickey's for dinner. Ohana's was our favorite for breakfast. The characters were awesome for both. I think both of these were the best meals we had at Disney. I hope that's still true! I really enjoyed the castle too, but not for the character interaction, more for just the atmosphere of the castle.

Liberty Tree tavern is nice. Nice colonial disney costumes, and you get Chip 'N Dale. Also the thanksgiving like food is something kids will generaly eat.

Our children are adults now, and my wife and I still visit Cape May Cafe's character breakfast. It's always been a nice breakfast, not hectic, with good character interaction. We highly recommend it.

the best meal is at the crystal palace ,the best characters are at chef mickeys

Thanks for your help. We made an ADR with Chef Mickey for breakfast.

As long as the characters are fun and they have Mickey waffles, we'll be happy!:)

I have been to Cinderella's Royal Table, Akershus, Chef Mickey's, Donald's Breakfastosaurus, and Garden Grill. Of all of them, my favorite was Garden Grill. It was way less crowded so the characters came by our table like 3 times each. We were all adults, so I imagine if you had kids they even may have come by more. It has Pluto, Mickey, Chip and Dale. The characters are dressed in farmer attire. We really liked the food too. I highly recommend it!

The best food was our lunch at Crystal Palace. The best character interaction was at Liberty Tree Tavern. The characters came around to our table 3 or 4 times each.

One thing to think about...while character meals are great and pretty convenient (have a good meal and meet characters at the same time) with the improved character greeting areas at all the parks it is pretty easy to meet lots of characters (and quickly) at the various parks.
