We'll be going to Disney World with our Nephews in October next year...we are going to try very hard for an Illuminations Cruise, but if we don't get that I want to treat them to a Character Meal. They boys are 10, 5, and 2...it will also be their parents, grandparents, and myself and my husband so a Total of 9 people...I'm curious to know which ones people think would be good?

Thanks in Advance DISers! :worship:

I don't think you could lose with a meal at Chef Mickey's. I think it would appeal to everyone in the group

I think either CM for Mickey and friends breakfast, Ohana for Stich, CP for Pooh and friends (any meal) or GG for Mickey, Goofy, Chip n Dale for dinner are all fun.

All are our favorites and we visit at least two on each trip.

Hope this helps some. :)

Our grandson loves the Tusker House Bkfst....
Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy - & I think I remember Goofy being there, too. They're all decked out in safari gear.

Tusker House breakfast in AK.

The food is fabulous and the characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy) are in their safari gear. We also love the location...you fill yourself up, walk outside, and you are steps away from the safari. It is our favorite way to start our day at AK. :)

While not a Character Meal...My DS (now 17) having been to WDW 10 times...FAVORITE EXPERIENCE at WDW has been Teppan Edo (Hibachi) in Japan at Epcot. I know this is not much different than your local city's HIbachi Restaurant...but "it is what it is"...boys love Oriental (ninja's, Samurai, swords) and that's what my DS's favorite WDW experience is...so see what they say about that...we enjoy the Drum show in Japan as well.....

(Wow - the shop downstairs was even my DS's favorite place to SHOP! And he EVEN bought BOOKS ! ) (GO figure)

Have a Magical visit!

We have taken our grandson 3 times now (he just turned 6) and on each of the last 2 trips when we asked him where he would like to eat his first response is "Japanese". He loves it at Teppan Edo. We will be returning in March 2010 with him and of course we have already booked that restaurant.

I have two boys... ages 9 and 11.

Their absolute favorite character meal is the one at Ohana. They love seeing Stitch. We love just hopping on the monorail afterwards and heading to MK. My DH loves that it is served family style, too (not just another buffet). It's an "all you can eat" thing, too. My boys love the conga line around the restaurant.

My kids also said Teppan Edo was their favorite. One draw back would be your party size. The tables only seat 8.

It sure would be nice if Disney had a character meal that geared to older boys. Maybe a pirate meal or something like that.

Also not a character meal but I understand is fun for everyone is O'hanas for dinner.

I know it is so hard to make a choice.

The older ones may like the Sci-Fi better than a character meal. I knw my sons love to eat in the cars and watch a movie (they love tom and jerry).

Disney really does need a "boy" character meal.

when our boys were smaller they always asked to go to Hoop-de-doo review.
The food is everything they enjoyed--fried chicken and the show is very entertaining.

I really don't understand why WDW has never cashed in on a more male themed character meal (it's not like them to miss a trick ;). Pirates or Toy Story would be SO popular. DS has loved everything except Akerheus Princess meal (sp?) and was so so on CRT. He's now 15 but we have been going since he was a year. His must do every year is Chef Mickeys.

That would be an awesome character meal.

My 9yo son's first request on our last trip was Chef Mickey's but after showing him a youtube video of Teppan Edo's he chose that. It was one of our best meals of the week!

We also had a 2 year old, and a party of 9, and they allowed us to all sit together at one table with our little one at the corner in a highchair. It worked out well because you don't want them close to the hot cooking surface anyway.

I agree with the boy meals!!!! Come on Disney....you have pirate rooms, why not a pirate character dining experience?pirate:

I would also say that for the 5 and 2 year old, Crystal Palace is also a good choice. My boys (6 and 4) always look forward to that meal.

Ok...so I'm thinking it's a toss up between Tusker House, Ohana, and Crystal Palace. I guess I'll just go with whoever has the best availability. All of the menus sound yummy!

PS: Toy Story would be an AWESOME character meal! I'm looking forward to dining in Beast's castle when the Fantasyland Refurb is done! :thumbsup2

^^^ We did several character meals during our June trip to the World. We have a DD and a DS, so we had to try everything. :rolleyes1 I would recommend Chef Mickey's for a best overall experience. Characters there: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald. If the boys would prefer a 'safari' breakfast experience, I would suggest Tusker House (TH) in Animal Kingdom. Our kiddos loved that character meal too. TH had Mickey, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto. If the boys like Stitch, then I would recommend Ohana's breakfast. The meal is not buffet style but you get a lot of food and it's all extremely good. The characters at Ohana's: Mickey, Donald, Lilo, Stitch, Goofy, and Pluto. If your 10 yr. old nephew doesn't mind hanging out with Winnie the Pooh and friends, then Crystal Palace is a nice alternative to the above mentioned places. Regardless of which one you choose, you'll love the character meal and your nephews will love you for treating them too! Here's wishing you make some magical memories for your family. pixiedust:

Well, my 4-year old DS enjoyed Akershus. He hugged and flirted with the princesses! The character encounters are so brief, it's OK if it's not a totally "boy" thing.
