I am heading down to Disney World this summer, and my friend is coming with me. She has never been to Disney World, and I want to make this trip absolutely the best trip ever! I'm sooooo excited.

My mom and I were going to make the reservations for restaurants soon, and I know that I definetly want to do a character meal.

So, which one is your favorite? Please take in to consideration the type of food they serve, how they serve it, the service, and which characters are there. And if you could, give me a little detail about it in a post because I have not been to all of them.

If you have any other suggestions about non-character restaurants, I would love to hear them.

Thanks so much guys! I'm really really excited!

We have done Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's. We've never done Cinderella's--with boys there was definitely a lack of desire. DH and I did the Princess Lunch in Norway last year (so-so food). We are trying Cape May at the Beach Club this year with Minnie, etc. We have not done Ohana's since Stitch became involved and it was served family style. We like Chef Mickey's a lot, but Crystal Palace is definitely our favorite for breakfast with the puffed french toast and Pooh and friends.

I can't believe you don't have Disney's trademark character meal listed....Chef Mickey's!! That get's my family's vote. :thumbsup2

I voted other...Ohanas breakfast with Stitch was the highlight of our Dec trip...we also like CP and Garden Grill
this year in Dec we are trying Chef Mickey's and doing CRT for dinner (which only has Fairy Godmother)

Chef Mickey's is AWESOME!!!!! followed by Crystal Palace then Ohana

our favorite so far is Donald's Breakfast at AK. We get to have breakfast with Mickey Minnie, Daisy, Donald, & Goofy. We have great interaction with all the characters who were happy to pose with each of us for pics and sign my DD's autograph book. The buffet is set up in a separate area - lots of roaming around (grazing) room and a lot of fresh food stations to choose everthing from rotisserie ham to bacon and sausage and gravy to breads of all kinds; including croissants, banana nut bread and fresh fruits and fresh yogurt with all the add ins. There are also tasty African inspired items - such as bobotie to enjoy. The jungle juice is good.

If you aren't in the mood for characters (perish the thought!) - it is definitely worth the trip to Boma for breakfast. They have almost the same menu as Tusker House and AKL is beautiful.

It isn't a true trip to the MK without getting to the Crystal Palace for breakfast with Pooh, Eyeore, Roo, & Tigger. We love walking down Main Street with hardly a soul in sight. Their buffet is great too. gotta have the pooh waffles.

I voted for Crystal Palace, but would also recommend Chef Mickey's. When it comes to character breakfasts these two are at the top of our favorites list. They both have good food, fun atmospheres, and good character interaction.

For me, it's Chef Mickey's at The Contemporary resort :thumbsup2

Well for breakfasts if you care about the food, you should go for Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace.. pretty much the same food... one is pooh and friends the other mickey and company... in both the food is all you can eat buffet style and decent enough that you wont feel ripped off. You want to avoid Cinderella's in the Castle for Breakfast it is absolutely the worst food for your money at breakfast you will be likely to find anywhere in the world...

For lunch, crystal palace is your best bet in the MK since its where you're likely to be... if your at EPCOT you have lots of places that are good or if your still looking for characters the Garden Grill has decent food though unlike the crystal palace's buffet, the Garden Grill is served family style where they bring an assortment of stuff to your table... its more home style flavors like ribs and fried fish, compared to the Crystal palaces more eclectic continental fare.

As for dinner... sticking with the character meals... I would suggest 1900 park fare... its again an eclectic mix of buffet foods but it tastes good.

Definitely Chef Mickey's! It's a classic and the food selection is great so everyone will like something. You get to eat with Mickey himself, and after all..isn't Mickey what WDW is all about? Have fun!

I voted for Crystal Palace because the food has always been good there, the service quick, and there are lots of Winnie the Pooh pals to meet. I also recommend Cape May Cafe breakfast and O'Hana breakfast. These are easier to do if you are staying near the resorts- the food and characters are wonderful. But for a nice air-conditioned break at MK, Crystal Palace is great!!:thumbsup2

To me, there's two character meals everyone should experience at least once, CRT (esp. the female contingent) & Chef Mickey's (for all). They are both quintessential Disney, an experience like none other. Sure, all character meals are something you can't experience "in the real world", but they don't scream Disney like CRT & CM. FWIW, we only go to Character meals at breakfast.

Thanks for the help guys!
For some reason my mom doesn't really like buffets, but a lot of these restaurants have them. Do you think it's worth going to some of these restaurants even though they have a buffet, or should we stick to family style because she likes it?
