We are taking our very first trip to Disney in May 2008! My boys will be 6 & 8 at the time of the trip. I want to do a character breakfast, we are early risers, and am looking for recommendations. Thanks so much for any advice!:goodvibes

Food and if they are Stich fans definitly Ohanna's, if not opt for Chef Mickeys, food is not as good....but it is breakfast with Mickey:thumbsup2

My kids enjoyed seeing Lilo & Stitch, Mickey and Pluto at Ohana. Stitch was especially fun. He was very playful and interacted a lot with everyone. Even my grumpy DS13 had a good time. :cool2:

I agree! This is our favorite place to eat Breakfast at.
My DS loves this place.
I love it as an adult, the food is very good also. :coffee:

It isn't a character meal, but my son LOVES the Sci-Fi Drive In as well. Definately a "boy" restaurant. (My daughter does enjoy it, as well).

We just did Donald's Breakfastasaurous yesterday at AK and it was great! We got to take pictures/autographs with Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Pluto and there were dressed in safari gear. The food was good too.

WE were there 2 weeks ago with DS who is 6 1/2. He loved Chef Mickey! He said it was his favoritrite character meal all week!:thumbsup2

2nd the Breakfastasaurus, always my boys fav, from the time they were little to adults :) Looking forward to trying the new location. They also always enjoyed 1900 park faire, we have not been since the refurbish

Donalds is great....especially if you want to get into the park before opening time and out right at opening time....a head start!

We let DS pick a character meal for our next trip since we are doing the Norway princess one for DD and to no suprise he picked the 'Ohana breakfast with Lilo & Stitch. He loves it and the rest of the family enjoys it as well. :)

We will also be going on a first family trip in May of 08!! My boys will be 2,6,9. I think we are going to try chef mickeys for breakfast one day.

Thanks so much for the replies! We may have to go to two breakfasts, I'm going to have a hard time deciding!

We have only done two character breakfast with our DS's so far. When they were 5 & 6 I picked Chef Mickey's. It was their first time meeting characters and they loved it.
The next trip they were 7 & 8 , so I let them pick the character breakfast. Since they both love Stitch they picked the 'Ohana character breakfast. They had a lot of fun, and they said they liked it better than Chef Mickey's. They really loved the parade that they do with all of the kids that attend the breakfast. Stitch spent so much time with them that I started to feel bad, and I had to say, "ok boys tell Stitch bye, so he can go see the other kids."

I think that kids are either going to like the character meals or not like the character meals. I think that you have to ask your kids what characters they like.

We have been to many characte meals, probably close to fifty, and all of them have had great character interaction with the guests, except for Crystal Palace. On two occaisions, the characters did not get around to all of the guests. One time, a table next to us had a girl who was an Eeyore fan, but Eeyore never came around. I remember the Dad going to ask about Eeyore, but I am not sure if Eeyore cam around. So if you love Pooh, then I suggest that you take your time eating, and make sure that the characters get around. I never let anyone make me feel rushed in a restaurant. I take my time. I believe that this is the only restaurant with Pooh. The food is good and the restaurant is nice there, but I think that there are two things going on. First, I think that the restaurant is just a little too big for the Pooh characters to make it around it in about an hour, which is probably the amount of time a family takes to eat at one of these character meals. Second, when they have the bunny hop dance or party, I think that the characters forget where they were before the party. This is not there fault, because I assume the masks have limited vision.

Those CMs who are with the characters, always seem like they are not paying attention to what they are doing. I am really not sure what there job is suppose to be, other than make sure the guests all get to meet the characters.

We have enjoyed the Donald breakfast at AK. I hope that is as good at the new location of Tusker House. The other one we have done numerous times is Chef Mickey's. These both have Mickey, Pluto, Goofy. We are trying Ohana's this trip. My son loves Stitch.

They are all fun!!

5 days prior to us leaving for our trip in March 2007, my 6 year old boy asked me if we were gonna eat with the Princesses?! After a few calls and a great CM we were able to get ressies at Akershus and he loved it. Don't count them out, you might be surprised...

Everytime we have gone in the past, we ate at the castle, so he just naturally assumed that we would be dining with the girls!!

We have two small boys and this is their favorite character meal and we have done them all! They really love the character interaction, atmosphere, and the food is not bad either!!

My boys (8,5,2) favorites are Chef Mickey's, Donalds Breakfastasaurus in AK, Goofy's Beach Breakfast at Beach Club, and believe it or not Crystal Palace in MK. We have eaten at Crystal Palace on each of our trips and even my oldest still requests a breakfast here. Oh they really enjoyed Ohana's both times we ate there. Just ask them what characters they like and you can't go wrong with a character meal since you will not have to wait in line to see their fav. character!!!:thumbsup2

I agree. My sons liked these also. And we actullay really like the Beach Club. Tons of great choices and the atmosphere is more calm. Great for young and "old".
