best chance at 7 months out?

We are going next October and getting a 2 bedroom at SSR (my home resort, which I will book at the 11 month window). My friends decided they would like to join us and we have plenty of points so we said we'd get them a room. I was going to book them at SSR as well but I thought it might be nice for them to be at a different resort. DH and I are going with my dad, stepmom, little brother and sister so my friends will probably want their own time/space. Which resort do I have the best chances of getting for them at 7months out? I would love to get them the Boardwalk if I could. Thoughts?

Why don't you book them a room at SSR and then at 7 months try the BWV? If it's not available you can waitlist them. At least that way you know they will have a room. October is a busy month at the BWV due to the Food & Wine Festival but you may be able to get something depending upon the date.

BWV is always hard for me to get. Not sure why. We have traveled Jan., Feb., April, Sept. and Dec. I also have a hard time with VWL. Good luck! I would book SSR and change though. At least they are in somewhere.

SSR is pretty big, Im sure they will have their own space, plus if you do want to get together then everyone is at the same resort so it would be easier

you dont have to spend every minute together but it might be nice to have a coffee or a drink or just sit by the pool together once in awhile
why would they want to come along if they dont want to be around you guys?

I would just book SSR now, then discuss it with them and if somehting is open at 7 months then you could think about it then.

The F&W festival is in October. I'd book their room at SSR and then try to book it at BWV or BCV at the 7-month period. You can put that on a waitlist for all the days if you want or just call and try a one-shot deal, it's either available or it's not.

When making a reservation at your home resort, you have an 11-month booking window. This means you can make your reservations as far as 11 months in advance of your check-out date. When making reservations at all other DVC resorts, you can book as far as 7 months before your check-out date.

A holding account has nothing to do with making reservations. If you cancel a reservation for a DVC resort between 30 and 1 days prior to check-in, all of the points used to make the reservation will be placed in the Holding Account.

Yes and even waitlist at that point for a new resort. If you get the new resort, your points will go toward that. If not, you keep your current reservation.

I would put them at SSR with you? They will feel like they are with you instead of being shipped off to another resort. I know that you are trying to make things better for them, but they may end up feeling differently.

I agree. My sister was upset that she was on a different floor at BWV! I would definitely ask what they would like.
