Best cell phone provider

We've had Cingular/AT&T since day one. As far as customer service goes, I think they are #1. They have consistently gone out of their way to keep me as a customer. My dds have brand new4G Iphones and love them. The rest of us have pretty much basic (phone and text). I am happy with them.

That being said, when we went on vacation in upstate NY a couple of years ago, the only cellphone that worked was Verizon. I was impressed, but not enough to change providers.

They are iPhone 4's (as in 4th edition, not related to the type of network they use), not 4G iPhones. Although AT&T claims to have a 4G network, they really don't are are just using a loophole in the rules that set the 4G standard to pretend that their 3G network is better than it really is.

I have Verizon Wireless for over 16 years and they are the best. I was out with friends one night and one of their children called me because the call would not go through to his mother. She had Cingular other friend had AT & T neither one had service and we were in a suburban area not rural having dinner. Occasionally, I call to get a better plan or rate and they always have suggestions and make changes to accomodate me. I think they are the best. Not Verizon for the landline phone they are awful - as soon as I could I changed to my cable company. 2/10 Verizon will have the I phone.

I cannot believe that company operates with such sleazy, sleazy operating principles.
Sounds like you were dealing with a crappy reseller, because Verizon, itself, isn't anything like that, in my experience. And that's an important warning for folks: The sales and provisioning experience is not necessarily any indication (good or bad) about the service experience once you're provisioned correctly.

You know, it occurs to me, that in 21 years I've had my cell phone,my only contact with my provider has been when I got the first phone, and the 2 times I replaced my phone, 3 contacts in 21 years.

Yes, I kept my first phone 14 years, second 2 years, my third is now 5 years old.

I have to give a shoutout to US Cellular. I know they're not one of the biggest carriers, and I'm sure it really depends on where you are located. We have had US Cellular for years. We get great nation-wide coverage. We have traveled all over the country and always have great service. People we're traveling with are always borrowing our phones because they don't have coverage and we do. We rarely, rarely experience a dropped call. Great customer service when we call with a problem or question. People are usually impressed when they hear that for no additional charge, we have overage protection.

My only complaint, because they're a smaller carrier I assume, is they don't have the best selection of phones. We are blackberry users. We really don't have complaints about our phones. However, it is painful at times to see the other carriers getting the newer, faster, better phones and having to wait longer for the phones with good features to get to our little local store. We are paying much less for our 4 phones with US Cellular than most of our friends are for 2 phones with Verizon, although we're still on a much older plan. If price is a major factor, I'd recommend at least giving US Cellular a look if it's in your area.
