Best car rental rates for July??

Our travel dates are July 7-17 and I have spent the last few days playing with codes on all the rentals sites and the rate are all coming back so high!!!! For compacts I am having a hard time finding under $500 which I think is crazy!!!

We went down in '08 for 2 weeks and used this awesome code for Naional and got a van for a steal but not finding anything that great this time around.

What is anyone else finding?

Did you try the codes on Mousesavers? Thrifty comes up with a rate of $365 with taxes for your dates using the Island Realty code of 004C005932.

I have been having the same problem for travel july 20-27. I used the island realty code and got a rate of 265 for the week. i just hope it works...

I've been looking and looking and the best I have up to now is using National with the emerald Club. Id 5760333 and coupon ND2912zdp. Thats for a mid size but with the Emerald Club I might do better and if not that is still OK since there is only 4 of us. I am getting $378 for 10 days total (taxes in). I will keep looking and hope I can get that closer to $250-300 but at least I have a worst case scenerio booked.

I just want to point out that code 5760333 is for employees of Siemen's Corporation and you may be asked to show a badge/ID. I am particularly leery of codes that include the Loss Damage Waiver such as this one. If you're in an accident and NOT an employee of Siemens you may run into problems. So, I guess I'm saying that you should use it at your own risk.

Just wanted to update that I now have a rental with Hertz using CDP 1757580 (Car & Driver mag) and getting $294 taxes in for the 10 days.

Hoping to find a coupon to apply as well to bring it down further.

I just tried it and it worked for me (though it wasn't a cheaper rate than what I already have). Did you maybe type CDP in too? Just enter the numbers, not the letter part and see if that works. Good luck!

I reserved a full size car with Budget last August for this July @ $267 total. I don't think at this point in time that I will get anything better than that...

The code is from Carlson Travel and is an open code as we can use it for work or personal travel (they host our work travel site and the links to hotel and rental cars open with their discount codes inserted in the reservation forms).

Hotwire .com seems to be having a sale. I heard the closer to your date the cheaper they get. BUT you run the risk of not getting a car then.

I am a emerald club holder if I use these codes will I be asked to show any form of ID to prove I am with the id holder . Person stated it a carlson travel ID .
