I always end up carrying my camera bag along with another bag for other stuff. I would like to carry just one bag, but the camera bag won't fit all of the other stuff and the "other" bag doesn't protect the camera. I have a digital slr with 2 lenses (nothing too fancy) and a small camcorder. The "other" stuff usually consists of diapers, wipes, snacks for the kids, money, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Blah! I already have a post that is like this! GRRRR, JUST KIDDING!!!! A few people answered my post and I got the answers of a fannypack (no thanks), plus I don't think that would fit all your extra stuff, and a small bookbag...which would probably be the best for you. the One Gallon sized ziplocks for the camera and such as well for rain and water rides. :-)

I don't know if you like this but this is what works best for me: I have a bag for my video camera and I have my bag for my digi (of course it is NOT an SLR, I do not have enough money for one of those :(), I also have a large backpack from JanSport and I put them both in it along with anything else I need (a water bottle for each person, sweaters, change of socks, cell phones, etc).

I always generally always carry my bag for my digi over my shoulder anyways so I can take it out and put it back easily.

I don't know how large of a bag you need for a SLR, I'm probably the size of the bag I have for my video camera.

That's what I do.

There are camera bags out there, I think by LowPro (I think that's the brand, my internet doesn't work well so I can't look them up) and they used to have a lot of solutions. I had a really hard time finding bags by them in stores though...

If you are looking for a photo backpack these bags are inventive there is one that has a camera area and even a regular compartment too I thought they looked really good

Those bags by Lowepro look REALLY good, however their prices are a bit out of my price range.

This is what I use http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Tamr...46348/catOid/-13083/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do. It might be a bit small for the other stuff you need. I can fit my XTI with kit lens and long zoom lens in the bottom part with no problem and, I also put my camcorder in the top part. There is not to much room after that though. You might want to see if you have a Ritz camera or some type of local camera store around you to check out the options that are available to you.

I have also been looking for a bag that is some what water "resistant" when your on rides like SM...

I notice by the age of your kids in your sig that you will probably have a stroller?
What we always do is have one small bag for camera, money, phones, etc, aside from the diaper and snack bag. So when we go one rides, I have no worries leaving the big bag in the stroller. (who wants my diapers?) while we take the valueable bag with us.

I just went through the same issue! Needed a bag for my SLR and camcorder while still having enough room for the kids' items. I ended up buying the Lowepro compudaypack. It has a separate compartment for a laptop, which we will be bringing on the plane, but not into the parks. Solved that problem. I like the personal items compartment because it's big. I can also use the laptop compartment for diapers, wipes, and changing pads for easy access.

The other one I was looking at from lowepro is the fastpack 200. It was about the same size on the whole, but the camera section was bigger than the compudaypack. This meant that the personal compartment was smaller. Not by much, though. The compudaypack felt better on my back as well.

I think I spent about $90 on it. Some of their other AW bags are double that. I don't know which ones (maybe all) were out of your price range, but I didn't think the fastpacks or the compudaypack were that bad considering the alternatives.

Thanks for all the tips! I have a few options to look at now. I currently have 2 lowerpro bags that are great camera bags, but not big enough for other stuff. Although, I do like the idea of leaving the unvaluable stuff in the stroller. Also, the smaller backpack isn't the easiest to get the camera out of quickly. The whole front opens up, so you have to lay the backpack flat before you open it so that nothing falls out - not the easiest thing to do when you are trying to grab it quickly for an unexpected shot!

Lots of great suggestions here. I'm sure I'll find what I'm looking for. Thanks again!
