Planning next trip and we want/need a camcorder. I am very green when it comes to these and any info would help. I have looked a little at Sony and Panasonic but no clear cut advantage for either that I can see.

During my last trip to WDW, I used one of these: Sony DSC-HX9V

OK, you ask why I am showing you a digital stills camera! I think, coupled with an extra battery and a high capacity memory card (maybe a couple of these!,) this is better and more versatile than any video camera. Here are some reasons why:

- This camera can shoot at 1080p resolution at 50/60 fps (better than any current display can cope with!;
- The 16x optical zoom can still be used whilst shooting video;
- The camera features Sony's image stabilization;
- High resolution stills can be taken during video shooting (provided you are not using the top video resolution - the resolution that is better than any current TV can display!)
- The camera has HDMI out
- The camera is compatible with SD cards, you do however need high speed ones (i.e. class 10.)

This camera is now an old model here in the UK. so I assume it is in the US. I have seen them being sold for as little as £100 ($160) - might be worth a look on eBay!

I have some footage which I took in WDW with this camera uploaded to YouTube, if you would like, I can post some links to it.

I bought a Kodak Playsport about a year ago to take with me on my Italy trip. It's about the size of a cell phone and so much easier to take pictures with than a bigger camcorder. It took great video in HD and was pretty inexpensive too!

That does seem pretty good. I would like to go new if possible to get a warranty. We got a new camera last year for our trip so just the camera with the high speed shutter I would not be interested in at this time. Keep the info and tips coming.

Just picked up the Kodak Playsport as well for $88 at BandHphoto. Very easy to use.
