Best cabin locations and requests?

We were just able to grab a cabin at Ft Wilderness for a trip in a couple weeks. When I have stayed at other properties, we have put in requests for rooms/areas highly recommended by others and a lot of times these requests were accommodated. So what/where is the best cabin/location (4 and 9 yr old kids and we won't have a golf cart)? Can you make requests and do they try and accomodate?

2642. We stayed in that cabin back in May and it took less than a minute to the bus stop (right around the corner!). Even though it's located right at the road, we never heard the buses when they went by while we were sleeping.

What is most important to you ? Being close to the pool, bus stop. away from the road ? Request those kind of things, that will work out better for you. :thumbsup2

I am thinking we either want to be near the Marina since the only park we will visit will be MK or near the pool for the kids. Wasn't planning to rent a golf cart at this point and my 75yr old MIL is coming with us (she gets around pretty well but) so it would be nice to be close to one of the main destinations at the resort.

All but two cabins are out at the far end of the campground(near the Outpost). The two cabins near the marina are usually reserved for Disney VIP, so don't plan on a cabin near the marina. Some of the cabin loops are large, your best request would probably be "near bus stop, near quiet pool"

I had to call about our reservation so I talked with the CSR. She indicated as you said that the cabins were on the opposite part of the park from the marina and not near the large Outpost. She did say that we could request being "near the meadow outpost/pool" or "closer to the marina" which would not be next to the marina but the cabins closest to the marina so it would still be a walk. So still not sure what I should request, "closer to the marina" might not necessarily help us.

BTW, Meadow and Outpost are two different area of the campground

Settlement-Pioneer Hall, Trails End, Horse stables, Marina and Settlement trading post.

Meadows-Main Pool, bike barn, campfire movies, snack bar and arcade at pool area Meadow Trading Post.

Outpost-reception area, horse back riding departs here, buses outside of FW, all parks(except MK) and DTD.

If you look at the map, you can see the cabin loops are all the 2100 and higher loops. It doesn't matter which loop you are in, you will probably be taking a bus to the marina - the walk would be 30 minutes I would say. Nice stroll in the winter, not so much in August. The 2100/2200 are an easy walk to the Meadows area, where the large pool/splash pad are located and one of the trading posts.
The loops closer to the entrance (2500, etc) are closer to the quiet cabin pool and the bus stop you will use to reach all the parks besides the MK.

The resort is huge. You will probably be taking buses to reach the Settlement or the Outpost, so one stop more or less doesn't really make a difference.

If you're worried about walking, request any cabin close to any bus stop. If you want to be close to the Meadows, request 2100/2200.

Have fun!

Nope. There's only 15 minute parking at Meadows Trading Post. The settlement area can be accessed by a bus, walking path, bike, or golf cart.

Bobby is considering a 4000 loop for cabins, which would be the equivalent to the 3000 loop for campers, and would put the cabins near the Marina, Settlement area, Outpost area, all bus stops, both pools, both trading posts, Tri circle D horseback rides, and would give VIP limo service to Wilderness Lodge pool where only the cabin visitors would be allowed to save lounge chairs with specially provided towels.

We don't really need towels at the pool. There are about 600 in each cabin.

I have heard about this 4000 loop, though. Isn't it called "Golden Oak?"
