Best Buy VS. Circuit City

Which one do you like better and why? I'm asking this because they're both opening soon by my house in the same shopping center. It's ridiculous, I know. Just like a Famous Footwear and Shoe Pavilion are opening within a block of each other. It's been so long since I've been to Circuit City. I like Best Buy and that's where I bought my last computer.

They're pretty much interchangable to me. :)
I feel the same way. I have had wonderful and horrible service at both places.

I like Best Buy better (despite their return policy ;) ) They have a better selection of the things I tend to buy.

I loathe Best Buy with a passion. Ever since they claimed they didn't have the advertised computer that I wanted in stock (they kept saying, "Oh, we're getting a delivery of those day after tomorrow; we'll put one aside for you"...did this 4x and every time, "oh, we JUST sold the last one!") but tried to get me to buy something comparable...for another $1000.

I went to Circuit City and bought the same computer for the same price that Best Buy advertised. Our CC always has what they advertise. Our BB never does, and the salespeople try to get you to buy something more expensive. Not just the computer - they did it to my ex with TVs. I won't set foot in that store.

I used to feel that way, too until our Circuit City moved to a new location, which is a bigger store. Now it seems to have the better selection. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I was counting the threads till that turned up. :rotfl:

I really don't shop at either one of them. They are both over a 30 minute drive for me. So, i tend to purchase more locally.

As bad as people say Best Buy's return policy is, I find Circuit City to be much worse.

I also rarely see anything cheaper at Circuit City that is not on clearance. Rarely do they ever have a slae on somehting that is still a new, hot item.

But the one thing Circuit City does do is have blow out software (CD's, DVD's, games) sales on the holiday weekends and other random times. That's the ony time I shop there.

I go to Best Buy because they have sales on the hot new items and the Rewards program.

BTW: both chains have two stores in driving distance of my house and in both cases they are very close to each other. Must be the corporate strategy of one of the chains.

I despise BB so we go to CC. We always have good service and their prices are comparable.

OUr BB is much bigger and has a much better selection than Circuit City. PLUS- and I know this is just a fluke, but I have had two terrible sales associates at CC. Both times, it was a guy, and he would only talk to my husband- even when I was asking the questions.

I know I was just unlucky and got two ignorant sales people, but I still won't go back to circuit city.

The Best Buy around here is kind of run down with rude (or non-existent) service. The Circuit City store right across the street, meanwhile, is pretty pleasant inside and I've gotten decent service too.

But here's what's weird: The BB store is always unbelievably crowded. Traffic is backed up onto the street, parking's a disaster and checking out is too. The CC store, OTOH, is always nearly deserted. You can park right in front of the place and there's no checkout lines. They sell the same stuff at comparable prices, so :confused3

Anyway, I always go to CC.

I like CC. we've bought a ton of stuff from them and haven't had any problem that they weren't willing to fix. BB on the other hand we have had "issues" with.

We also have these 2 stores with in a mile of each other. I think it's a lot like the McDonald's vs. Burger King war. Where one will build, so shall the other. Until death do they part.

The Best Buy is closer to me, so out of convenience I usually end up there. They have my laptop right now at the Geek Squad. I did have a funny thing happen there though. I wanted to buy an XBox 360 back in May. They're the same price everywhere, but I figured I'd get it at BB since I have the reward card. So, I go in and there are about 50 of them on the top shelf. I ask the clerk for one and he says. "I can't sell it to you, I know you see them there but you can't have one." So, diplomat that I am I say "Well, why the H not?" (I didn't actually say H, y'all know what I really said) He says, "We're running a circular on Sunday and we have to have them in stock". I said, "OK, so you're turning away $400 cash in hand today from in the hope of getting $400 on Sunday or next week from someone else." It was the rule, he couldn't break it. I went to my local Gamestop and bought one there. The next week I stopped at BB for a DVD and the XBoxes were still sitting there!!! I wasn't annoyed-just amused.

I choose CC but only because there is one in Altoona (40 minute drive) and I rarely go to State College (60 minute drive) where BB is.

I like them both though.

Best Buy.
I can't tell you how many times I've gone through and purchased something from CC (either in store or online using in store pick up) only to go to the checkout conveyor belt place and be told they were out of stock. And it's happened to several people I know.

Not worth my time or aggravation to deal with that with Best Buy down the street from CC and they price match.

I don't really enjoy shopping at either of them. I treat them like Radio Shack: retailers of last resort. If I have to buy it locally, and if they have it, then I might buy something there. Otherwise, I give them a wide berth and buy online.
