Best Buy Help

I need some advice. On 12/10, I ordered a refurbished iPad2 on Bestbuy.com. It said "guaranteed Christmas delivery" when I purchased it. I chose the Ship to Store option. The first pickup date they gave me was 12/18. The, over the course of this past week, subsequent emails came changing the pickup date to 12/20, then 12/22, then finally 12/23. Today, a 5th email arrives telling me the iPad is backordered and they have no idea when it will be in! This was to be a Christmas gift to our kids from DH and I. What would you do? I got it for a great price ($349), and since this is for our 8 and 6 year olds to share, I don't want to pay $500 for a brand new one. Any help would be appreciated.

If its the wifi only one I think its $399 on Apple's website refurbished and we ordered a 3g refurbished and received it pretty quickly

You have until the 19th to buy a refurbished one from Apple with free gaurenteed delivery by Christmas. I would cancel the Best Buy one and get on the Apple site ASAP as some models have started selling out.

Thanks for the replies. I checked out the Apple refurbished iPads and the same model was $70 more than Best Buy. So, I'm going to wait it out. The pending charge re-appeared on my CC statement online today, so I'm hoping that's a good sign. Luckily this gift is from DH and I, not Santa, so if we give it to the kids after Christmas it isn't the end of the world.

You have until the 19th to buy a refurbished one from Apple with free gaurenteed delivery by Christmas. I would cancel the Best Buy one and get on the Apple site ASAP as some models have started selling out.

FWIW, I ordered a refurbished 64GB iPod Touch yesterday from Apple.com and it has already been shipped. It is arriving tomorrow!

I would also cancel and get the one that is guaranteed to arrive by Christmas. If the one from BB somehow never materializes, it may be too late to get one from Apple.com because their refurbs tend to sell out fast.

I think the $399 one may be the Ipad and not the Ipad2...I just remember seeing one for that price

==> the option to cancel a Best Buy order is not available (if it is like my recent BB order). Even though shipping date was still not yet determined there is no way to cancel (online or by phone). I had to wait for item to arrive then return to BB for refund. BB online is not as convenient as other online sites (i.e. Amazon) when it comes to handling: volume of orders, fast shipping or cancel order etc ... oh well ... lesson learned for purchases made Black Friday thru Holidays. YMMV.
