Best Burgers

Ahhh, yes, thanks Julie and Muppet, I know the place you mean now - I remember reading about the ducks somewhere...

Those sound like some good burgers, think I'll be taking the tribe there for some nosebag...

Astrid,

All my clipart came from a few sites that specialise in selling posters/pics, and all I did was get URL address details of the small thumbnails on the index pages for each band, and copy and paste it into my signature script, the same way you did your dancing cat thingy ! ;)

Here are links to the sites :

AltoCelebs.net

Pushposters.co.uk

Hope this helps !

B-line sounds great, we'll give it a try. I assume there is no problem parking there if your eating in?

Sue

No problem at all - huge hotel car park (by UK standards anyway!) You can access the B-Line Diner direct from the Car Park. You don't even need to go through the hotel.

Thanks All for the recommendations. Looks like it will have to be the B-Line Diner or Steak N Shake or Johnny Rockets or umm.. Maybe all three of them!!! And thanks for the advice about Denny's, Shoney's etc. Think I'll avoid these.

Dear Jimmybog

Your reply made me smile :D

Looks like it's a case of you ask 10 people and get 10 different answers! It can all be so different on the day depending on such variables as your server, how crowded the venue and even expectations. (The more I'm paying, the more I expect!)

For instance, my own 'pick' was Steak 'N Shake because it sells itself on its burgers and old fashioned shakes and it's inexpensive - not too much lost if it's not the ultimate dining experience on the day. I've eaten at Beaches 'N Cream (knowing of their reputation for the 'best burgers') a few times and have found it be be invariably crowded (it's small), noisy and the burgers nothing special. Could be to do with expectations? On the other hand, agree with everyone about the sundaes.

Eaten at the B-Line many times and do agree on that one, but with both that and Beaches, a burger meal with drink are not inexpensive for a family.

Also had many a decent meal in Denny's and Shoney's over the years but tend to avoid the ones in the tourist parts whenever possible.

Just my (additional) 10 cents' worth :D

Ok - another question ....... Is it necessary to book at both the B-Line and Mythos? Or can you just turn up on spec.

We did Jungle Jims earlier this year and it was still fine for us, but like has been said it can so depend on the day you go and expectations. Think we'll probably miss it out this year tho and there's so many new ones I want to try!

Thanks for the links Beejayjay.. :)

Pootle - Agree with your comments on Beaches, it was packed when we went there too and we had to wait an age for a table but, having said that we loved the atmosphere and our attempt at the Kitchen Sink! :)

Astrid

I'm glad I made someone smile. The problem is all three places sound like ones I want to try. But its going to be difficult to fit them all in along with the other 30 restaurants I want to try during my 2 week stay. So many places but not enough time to try them all! I might be sneaky though and have a small breakfast one day (Cornflakes) and then have a burger lunch at B-Line or Steak N Shake followed by a normal meal (Steak/Ribs/Chicken) in the evening. Its bad when you end up looking forward to the food more than the theme parks!!

Not bad at all - I'm exactly the same now! My trips are more and more restaurant orientated, and I then fit the parks in around where I'm eating, hehehe.

Sorry to hear about Jungle Jim's though - I ate there for lunch about a year and a half now and it was very tasty and have it pencilled in for a lunch in December too so I'll let you all know if there are any greasy tables in sight after that :o

Ah the decisions, decisions.

I've been lucky enough to manage 3 trips a year for the last few years (I know, I know, I'd have hated me too when I was young and poorer!) Two of those are with DH and we have usually been somewhere else in week 1 and ended up in Florida week 2, and one visit (November - coming up soon ;) ) with a good friend. On the visits with DH we have not set foot into the parks for years (apart from his Magic of Steam tour at MK in March) and the important event of the day is the dining option. I say 'option' because we rarely manage 2 even though we are (very) good eaters - so good luck with your strategy jimmybog :D

I am a veggie but I do love a good veggie burger adn my fave is Johnny Rockets, as well as great food its a really fun experience.

Hello All:

I "listened in" to this thread with a little amusement because I thought "how could anyone crave a burger....don't they have them in the UK?" (I'm writing from New Jersey).

Being a real "foodie", here's my two cents....

a) sure the burgs are good at Steak'n'Shake and Johnny Rockets, but keep in mind these are basic fast food places....good when you're looking for a quick meal when you haven't a lot of time

b) the casual family dining chains like Fridays, Chili's, Bennigans, and Red Robin etc...have excellent burgers...you really can't go wrong with any of these choices...and they offer sit-down, relax and get comfy type of service

c) special tip: there are 2 items some friends who visited from Europe recently went wild over....
* the Cajun-fried chicken salad at Fridays (complete with warm bacon-mustard dressing) about $8
* the Chicken Ranch sandwich at Chili's....complete with a touch of tabasco...about $6
both these items are filling, delicious, and addictive!!!

Happy Eating!

"how could anyone crave a burger....don't they have them in the UK?" Yes we have Burgers in the UK but I've only eaten at two places in 30 years of dinding where they were really good. Now isn't the USA supposed to be the expert on making good Burgers? I just wanted the real American experience of a great Burger and Shake in a "Happy Days" diner environment. I want the real deal!! and by peoples opinions on this board I now have several (or All) to choose from. Oh and if anyone visits Norwich in the UK try the restaurant "Captain Americas". Beats the burgers from Uk establishments of planet Hollwood, Hard Rock Cafe, TGI's etc hands down!!
