Staying at POR in September with two kids and myself. Last year stayed in Acadian mansion section. Any suggestions on a nice building with easy walking access to the main building. I do not want to be on the outskirts. Thanks

We like both Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace. I don’t know what view you booked, but my request is a location close to Old Man Isl foot bridge.

We stayed in both Magnolia Terrace and Oak Manor as well as building 15 in Alligator Bayou. Of the three, we liked Magnolia Terrace the best. Building 15 is technically a preferred location, but I found it to be the same amount of walking between our room there and our room at Magnolia Terrace. The theming is outstanding in Alligator Bayou, almost too good with the swampy bayou feel carried through in the overgrown vegetation. I think that's my wife liked Magnolia Terrace better!

We just got back from our second time at POR----we originally were supposed to be in building 26, which would have been a fairly short walk to the Main Building. However, our room wasnt ready so they put us in Building 17. There was an issue with the air conditioner so they moved us to Building 14. We were in building 18 on our last trip. Building 17 was much more of a hike, especially since we were in the back of building 17----and our only request was to be close to the main building. We loved building 14 personally. I would recommend taking a look at the POR resort map and seeing where you want to be.

FYI; Buildings 14, 15, 18 & 27 are Preferred, Oak Manor and Parterre Place are RR's only. OP, you did not mention your thoughts on Acadian Manson from last year, did you like it?

I think the landscaping of AB is very nice, I just don’t like the rooms since the Murphy bed takes the place of a dresser. I’d rather have the dresser.

I’m not OP but I loved Acadian House we had 2 stays there both on the side closest to the foot bridge.

I also like the location of Acadian, I was trying to get an idea from the OP what they thought about that building. I read so many posts where people find a 5 minute walk to be to long, we don't, but we like walking through POR to enjoy the theme.

Us too. It’s so pretty, and very pleasant walking along the river

We loved Acadian house and I think we were upgraded to river view too it was a five minute walk and I like it a lot I just like to hear other suggestions so when I make a request I could have a few options. Thank you

The only way we stay at POR is a preferred room. That’s AB section and I typically request bldg 14 followed by 18.
Perfect location imho.

Ah, my thoughts exactly. I have stayed at POR 4x. Mansions 3x and AB 1x. Not having the dresser is the reason I do not want to stay in the AB section anymore. While I do prefer the look of the mansions exterior area, the swamps can be beautiful too. I just don't want to stay AB again because of the unneeded (for us) Murphy bed in place of the much needed dresser. If I choose POR again, I will pay more for a RR as it's the only way to avoid the Murphy bed, lol.

I’ve been lucky, I just request Acadian or Magnolia and have never been assigned AB. I booked a RR once also because I was curious. They are supper cute. But I won’t pay more to book them.

I absolutely love POR! The grounds are so nice and quiet, so we really don't mind the walking since a lot of it is shaded. Having stayed at POR a few times - our first time we were in AB Building 24, which was the furthest we've ever been from the main building so from there we always requested closer areas. Twice I was in the royal guest rooms, building 90 and that is my absolute favorite - for the room and location. This upcoming trip we aren't booked in the royal rooms, so we are requesting Magnolia - Bldg 85. The location seems great! It has a bus stop (I think the East Depot) right there and the foot bridge right over to the main pool. We really don't want AB, so we are crossing our fingers for Magnolia.

We just stayed in building 85, Magnolia Terrace I believe. I really think it is the best building location-wise. It was a quick walk to the main pool, bus stop, and food court.

What's the difference between Magnolia Bend and Alligator Bayou rooms? Is MB higher priced?

Does this room cost more or it's just a request? Is it a preferred room simply based on location?

No, I do believe they are priced the same. I think the difference is the theming. Also, the AB rooms sleep five and the MB rooms sleep four. If you are in an AB room you will lose some storage space because the pull down bed takes up that area.
