Best Buffets in Orlando Area, outside of WDW?

This past Labour (Labor) Day weekend, we went to the Golden Corral restaurant at route 195, just east of I-4. We were not impressed with the quality of food.

We have in past years gone to various Golden Corrals around Orlando, and in other states, and usually we thought the quality was good? Is there a difference in quality of different Golden Corral restaurants, around Orlando/rest of USA?

I have been to Sizzler's and Ponderosa in the past - but not recently - how are they?

We do like Sweet Tomatoes.

Therefore, the question is what are the best buffet restaurants in Orlando, outside of WDW? Which ones would compare favourably (favorably) to the buffets of WDW?

I have eaten a Thanksgiving day meal at Ponderosa on International Drive: YUCK, YUCK, YUCK!!!

Not sure of the motivation for OFF SITE Buffet, but WDW has some moderately priced options:

Boma breakfast $16.99A/$9.99C

Yacht Club Adult Breakfast Buffet - Ages 10 & over - Seasonal fruits, Yogurt, Assorted danish and muffins, Pancakes, Smoked Salmon, Bagels, Bread Pudding, Oatmeal, Cold cereals, Bacon, Sausage, Potatoes, Scrambled Eggs, and Chef's Frittata. Includes coffee, tea, juice, and soft drinks. - $15.99 *

Trail's End Buffet
Breakfast Price: $11.99 -- 10 and over ; $7.99 Child (3-9)
Lunch Price: $12.99 10 and older; $8.99 Child (3-9)
Dinner Price: $18.99 Ages 10 and over; $10.99 Child (3-9)

Price and quality are the reasons for an off-site buffet. Therefore, what is the best off WDW site buffet? I would vote for Sweet Tomatoes.

In terms of economical lunch and dinner buffets at WDW, which ones would be recommended - and what are the prices?

Where is the Trail's End Buffet.

I have no experience to offer here.

Fort Wilderness Campground

Thanks.

The question is whether the most economical WDW buffets at lunch and at dinner compare well with the costs of off WDW restaurants.

You should try posting this on the Orlando section of this board. The people who post there usually stay offsite or live in the Orlando area. As a matter of fact, I think I've seen a similar thread over there. Good luck with your quest. :)

On the Dis Podcast the team mentioned a place called Texas De Brazil as the most amazing, go on an empty stomach, buffet. I looked on a IDrive trolly map last night in preparation for our upcoming trip and the place is located on I Drive :) . Not the cheapest place, but supposedly one of the very best!

If you're thinking of going to Texas de Brazil on an upcoming trip be sure to sign up for their emails.....typically you get a coupon for 25% to 40% off just for signing up, then they send out a new coupon every couple of months. Seems like if you're willing to go to their restaurant on the actual day of a holiday it's a 50% coupon.

Great great food...definitely don't eat the entire day before hand....and plan on waddling the following day!

I will often (usually at lesat once a month) eat at Solaris in the Marriott World Center. Their buffet line is about 70 feet long (in four sections). Breakfast includes eggs and pancakes to order, as well as smoked salmon and Parma Ham and a large assortment of cheeses. Including non-alcoholic beverages it is $18.95 for adults.

They also have a buffet dinner where the specialties vary by day of the week.

Do you know the price of the dinner?

I've only been to two. Not normally a fan of buffets.

My fav is Sweet Tomatoes.

Texas De Brazil is another really good place. They bring the food to you on skewers. It is on the pricey side. I agree with others and would definitely go on an empty stomach.

We have found that the quality of the food at Golden Corral's in general has gone downhill. We have eaten at them in Orlando and at home and the quality is not the same. I think with the rising food costs they have lowered the food quality to stay competitive vs raising prices. This is no different than what we see at many other restaurants.

Another vote for Sweet Tomatos. They also have an email list and send coupons. The salad offerings are always crisp and fresh. The soups are kept full and vary by season/day. The baked potato bar is a must do for many. There pasta is just ok. But I go for the salad and soups, and if I can (blood sugar issues) I will have a potato or sweet potato.
