I am planning for our Spring 2008 trip and would like one meal (diner) at a buffet style. Which one... any thoughts? :surfweb:

My favorite buffet resturants are Chef Mickey's and the Crystal Palace...they both have good food and characters. You might try one of those.

Our two favorites are non-park ones: Fresh in the Dolphin, and Boma in AKL! :thumbsup2

Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's & Cape May are 3 we've enjoyed(breakfast & dinner).:goodvibes

If you're just looking for good food and aren't interested in characters, Boma at the AKL can't be beat in my opinion. The AKL lodge is beautiful, we always spend some time looking around before dinner.

unless you want to do the Fantasmic Package, I would avoid the Hollywood and Vine one at MGM, it was really the only time we haven't liked a buffet at Disney and that was both times we had dinner there.

Any of the other ones are pretty good and you won't be disappointed.

1900 Park Fare. Unique characters, posh surroundings, wonderful food.

It depends for kids, adults, or both. We love the Biergarten in Germany, our kids eat it too. You just get a different variety not just the normal park food. If you are wanting character buffet Chef Mickey's is good.

Our absolute favorite is Boma. The resort is magnificent, you could spend hours just wandering and exploring. The food is great, there are some wonderful options and the desserts and soups are some of the best on property.

The Biergarten is fantastic. Love it. A must do for us. Lots of variety - it isn't just sausages... Plus you get great entertainment by the live band. :thumbsup2

Avoid Hollywood & Vine. I can only imagine you'd get better food in prison. What a waste. Horrid. :scared:

I vote for Cape May (dinner) and Crystal Palace for Breakfast or Lunch - both are fantastic and are a must do for us on any trip!!:flower3:

I've seen a lot of negative comments about this place, but my family and I love Hollywood and Vine. There is a great variety of food and we've always found it to be very fresh. It's a must do for us.

BOMA. Don't miss. DH and I loved food and amosphere at Boma and enjoyed visiting Animal Kingdom Lodge too.
Add Crystal Palace for character meal/buffett.

We haven't eaten at H&V in a couple of years but used to love it! Have eaten at Chef Mickey's the past few years and we're done with that place! We go to the character buffets more for the characters - don't expect fine cuisine. But Chep Mickey's doesn't even offer average cuisine - has gone downhill in my opinion! Yuck!

My absolute favorite is Boma. I love love love it!

For more traditional fare, we really like Hollywood & Vine, despite many of the negatives on here. We have never had a problem with the food being fresh and delicious and the service has always been great.

Count us in as Boma lovers! We tried it for the first time in August and were blown away with the food. The hotel was beautiful - we spent some time searching for hidden Mickey's and going outside to view the animals. We headed back there in February.
We were at H&V once and won't go again. We found the food fair but the restaurant was dirty and packed. Food on the floor everywhere - buffet stations with food on the floor and counter areas - sticky tables. We would have left if we could have gotten in anywhere and we had already waited over 1/2hour past our ADR.
We've tried a few character buffets, Chef Mickey's (dinner), Crystal Palace (dinner), 1900 Park Fare (breakfast) - not overly impressed with the food at any (consider them good) - we like them all for character interaction - Crystal Palace being the best. We have not rebooked any of these for our next trip in February - but we are trying Crystal Palace for breakfast one morning.

Boma is our favorite, but Biergarten is a very close second. Both have that very unique Disney ambience for us, and we love the food at both! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
