Looking for some advice...

Which buffet do you consider the best, and why (for dinner!)

Thanks

We like Crystal Palace. It is a good variety and good food.

Chef Mickey's is another that we love.

Seconding Boma. I liked seeing AKL and exploring around the outside area with the animals. I enjoyed the food, and I'm not a terribly adventurous eater. The desserts were yummy; the hummus varieties were flavorful, the soups were spectacular and I liked being able to try lots of new menu items. I went with an attitude of adventure and had a blast!

Crystal Palace!

Great food.. light and airy decor... and who doesn't love Pooh bear?? :tigger:

We loved Cape May, great crab legs. Pricy if you pay out of pocket but good food.

I had been considering boma....but wasn't sure as far as the 'different' kinds of food...from your info plus pics I have seen online it sounds like it might be great! plus I have never been to AKL....

Another BOMA pick here. The food is good with lots of variety. The ambiance of the restaurant is inviting. The service is good.

Cape May is always a family favorite! We've been going there since I was a kid, and I'm 20 now! We're never dissapointed with the food and the service is great! :thumbsup2

Definitely Cape May. I have the pickiest DH ever and it's his absolute favorite. Cape May's buffet has something for everyone in the family!

I heard Chef Mickey's was awesome, but never was able to get a reservation in the 10 years I have visited. I have done Cape May, Ohana's and Crystal Palace. All are nice, but remember you need park admission for Crystal Palace.

I find the food is the same at all the breakfast buffets - it just depends on the atmosphere you want.
I like Crystal Palace. We did Chef Mickey and Tusker House at C'mas - I found both to be really crazy and frankly, not relaxing. CP was not as hectic.
I've heard Boma is wonderful but we've never been.

The only dinner buffet we will go to is Cape May Clambake...the rest of them have overly salty foods to the point that they are inedible. We have dined at CMCB about 9 times and each time it is fantastic!

We went to cape may. I didn't love it because I don't like crab and everything else was not great. If you love crab cape may is the ace to be, if not boma is far better IMO

Ok....

1.) Garden Grove at the Swan and Dolphin is by far my favorite. They have different themes on different nights so check them out for the night you want to go to know which theme you will receive.
Plus: Great selection of upscale, quality food done in a buffet format. Also a kids section so the fancy will not be forced on the little ones. Tons of desert selections. Chracters interact here as well.
Minuses: Cant use DDP and cant bill to your room unless you are staying at the Swan or Dolphin. If you drive you have to pay to park no matter what. DVC/handicap placard makes no difference for valet or self park like Disney owned resorts or the other "signature restauraunts" there like Ill Mulino. I would recomend parking at Boardwalk and walking over if driving. Boardwalk will honor the courtesy valet.

2.) If you have to use DDP. I would suggest Ohana's (more family dining than buffet) but it is all you can eat and if you leave hungry it is definitely your own fault. Then have everything from appetizers to steak, pork, turkey, shrimp, etc...Then comes the dessert, oh heavenly mother of all dessert servings. It is Bread Pudding ( I do not normally like any bread pudding) with caramel sauce and home made vanilla bean ice cream :thumbsup2

Those are my favorites. Good luck on your foodie journey.

For example, I have not tried Cape May or Biergarten (but I will come July! :cool1:)

BUT

We really liked Boma. We stayed at AKL twice, and we just love AKL and Boma. If you haven't been to AKL, it is great to explore. However, if you have no adventure in you when it comes to food, you may not LOVE it. My ILs are very picky and found some good things to eat, but they were not impressed like my DH and I were. I am sad we are not going this year, but AKL was not in the cards for us, and I want to branch out to new restaurants.

Ohana is not a buffet but is AYCE. It is wonderful. And it was fun to explore the beaces at the Poly Resort. I so want to stay at Poly once, but I couldn't justify the extra $1000 for our upcoming 5 day trip. Maybe when we hit the big time :rotfl:

Crystal Palace really pleased everyone in our party as well. Plus it has Pooh and it's in a park, which is great. My DS thought the restaurant was pretty...we had an entire conversation about the beauty of the bathrooms :rotfl2: I have a friend who does not eat meat (only veggies and fish), and her family really enjoyed Crystal Palace for dinner as well.

MK- We take the boat over to either (1)Trail's End at Fort Wilderness: This is a buffet w/ awesome fried chicken, boiled shrimp, tasty ribs, & hearty "Southern-style" sides. They also have one of my favorite salad bars in WDW. or (2)Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge: They offer all-you-can-eat bbq & sides, but they bring it to you. It's always yummy & I like being served, and not having to elbow someone's maw maw in a buffet line, at the end of a long day.

AK- Tusker House: The food is absolutely delicious & we really like the variety. DH didn't like Boma b/c he didn't think the food was very flavorful, but he loved Tusker House. Their samosas, chicken curry, meat carving stations, & salad/hummus/couscous selection were all wonderful.

Epcot- Biergarten: The ambiance & food at Biergarten can't be beat. You feel like you're in the middle of an old German town & the oompha band makes every dinner extra special. They have a wonderful variety of meats, soup, salads, sides, & desserts.

DHS- Take the boat to Beach Club for Cape May's Clam Bake: This is not the place for a romantic meal, but we really enjoyed the broad selection of food at Cape May. Some of our favorites were steamed mussels, lobster tortelini, bbq ribs (suprisingly great), pesto mashed potatoes, snow crab legs, & mini-warm molten lava cakes.
