I all. I am new to these boards, but am getting so much good information on Disney stuff I thought I would throw this out there.

I recently lost my job. Although my husband and i both made good money, our income has now been cut in half. Had we not just finished building a house, and in doing so depleted our savings, we would be ok. But now we are struggling figuring out how we are going to make ends meet after my severance package runs out. So, I am looking for some good budgeting software to help us track our spending and put together a new budget to match our reduced income.

Any suggestions? (IdeallyI would LOVE to have something I could use on my iPad, but I could manage on my old/outdated desktop computer if need be.)

Thanks in advance!!

So sorry to hear about your job loss. Mint.com has an app for the iPad and it's free. It's part of the Quicken family. I've only used it on my laptop and am assuming it's similar on an iPad.

My personal favorite (and I've tried a few) is YNAB (www.youneedabudget.com). What I like is that it's more than just a program - it encourages you to save so that you can eventually live off of last month's income (so that you always know how much you actually have to spend).

YES! :thumbsup2

YNAB is a lifesaver for us. My DH has the app on his iPhone and I have the app on my Droid, its fabulous to be able to see how much money is in each category in real time. No matter who has used the bank account. :worship:

A third vote for YNAB. I have only been using it since April but I love it. Unlike other programs that focus on where you spent your money yesterday, this one focuses you on how you will spend your money tomorrow. There is terrific user support: online live classes, anytime video tutorials, and a great forum board with very helpful people. You can take a class even if you are in the free trial period and havent paid for it yet. They have a free month long trial period. THat is not a pay for it upfront and seek a refund if you dont like it but a truly free trial period where you can download the program and use it to see how it works for you. So there is no reason not to try it out and see if you like it. Finally the cost is not great- $60 (one time payment) and another $5 or so if you want the app for your phone.

Just wanted to point out that the jessythames post above appears to be a spammer type and I have reported it.

I also am a YNAB user and really like it.
