I would like to take my wife to a nice breakfast one morining of our WDW trip in two weeks. I was wondering what you all felt was the best breakfast to go to.

I do have some requirements:

1) No character breakfasts.

2) No buffets/bufferterias

Given these requirements, what are your recommendations? On a side note, we are staying at the WL. How does Whispering Canyon Cafe rate?

In the Boardwalk area there is no better place for breakfast than Spoodles. It is nice and quiet and a very relaxing way to start the day. Their food is excellent and we have found that when we eat a big breakfast at Spoodles we can skip lunch (except for maybe a snack) and make it to dinner easily.
My DS and I love their breakfast pizza/flat bread. REALLY GREAT!
The Boardwalk area is also nice and peaceful early in the morining. A really nice way to start the day.

Definitely Kona Cafe! Great coffee, tasty omelettes, and of course, the famous Tonga toast. It's a great place to eat before a day at the MK--just hop on the monorail after breakfast. :) I've never been to Whispering Canyon for breakfast, so I can't comment on that.

Another vote for Kona. I love Tonga Toast but last time I had the fruit plate it was wonderful. Also I know you said no Buffets but Boma for breakfast gets great reviews. Check out www.wdwig.com for menus.

First time I tried the tonga toast at the Poly (back when this area was the Coral Isle Cafe - and Tangaroa Terrace had it, too) I thought I'd discovered the ultimate food. CMs said that they'd seen weak men faint and strong men tremble.

I personally think the Whispering Canyon Cafe is an absolute hoot, but a calm, sedate dining experience is NOT what you're gonna get. Breakfast is a little tamer, but dinnertime is totally off the wall. You can order from the menu or go the all you can eat route at all meals ... the skillets are served at your table, so it's not technically a buffet.

Boatright's at POR is also good. It has it's own version of the banana-stuffed french toast (Tonga Toast) like Kona Cafe. Both are excellent. Boatright's is more of a country kitchen setting. I haven't eaten at too many, but Boatright's and Kona are the two I liked the best - and both meet your requirements.

Whispering canyon has a great breakfast menu. Country style cooking. Large helpings. Great resort to visit!

WARNING: Whispering canyon CM's do entertain with some antics, and get the guests involved. Ask for ketchup and you'll be in for a surprise!

Another vote for Kona at the Poly.
Tonga toast is downright decadent.

I enjoy the Yacht Club galley for a nice relaxing breakfast. They have ala cart or a buffet, you choose !
spoodles is also very good!
the GF cafe has a very good breakfast also.

I had the Tonga Toast at Kona, I liked it, but didnt think it was as good as all the rave.... way too heavy and sweet for breakfast !

have fun!

Laura :)

We've been to both Kona Cafe and Spoodle's for breakfast and both are great. One place we go to for breakfast that is very good but often goes unnoticed is the Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary. They have great breakfasts - we've NEVER been disappointed.

Gotta go with the Tonga Toast crowd here. As for the Wilderness Lodge's Whispering Canyon, I'd say it doesn't sound like something you'd want. It's not a character breakfast, per se, but it is a bit on the wild and ruckous side. I'd also mention that the last time I ate breakfast there, which was two years ago, the breakfast wasn't so great. The hash browns were cold, the eggs runny... that said, I love the place for dinner, and try always to squeeze a meal in there.

Try the tonga toast at Kona Cafe (Poly). It is heavenly as long as you have a sweet tooth! There Kona coffee is the best on property.

Sorry, but your two requirements omit the two best places to have breakfast in the world. Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Faire are both character breakfast buffets. I don't like characters, in fact I usually growl at them when they come near. But the quality and selection at both of these buffets just can't be beat by any sit down breakfast anywhere.

I would have to say Kona's & Spoodles. The Tonga Toast at Kona's is great and the Kona coffee they serve is the best at WDW. We ate at Spoodles last Dec. and loved it, but they have since changed there menu to more common breakfast fare, so will have to try it again.
