Best Bloody Mary?

I had a good one at Raglan Rd. The Empress at Yak & Yeti was pretty standard.

Ahh, bloody mary's. You are speaking my language Georgianna! I'm a huge bloody mary fan and have had them in the world at Flower & Garden Festival, Kona, Grand Floridian Cafe, Whispering Canyon, The Wave, Garden Grill, and Tusker House/Dawa Bar. Don't judge. I have to start the morning off right :-) Of those Dawa Bar is by far my favorite. They have a few flavors, but I love the African one the best. You can also order them inside at Tusker House. A close second is The Wave. Other than that the rest are all made from the same mix so they are largely the same.

Here is a look at the Dawa Bar Version (served in Tusker House)

And the Wave

I'm a Bloody Mary fan too and I really liked the Red Carpet at the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge. I am also a fan of the Dawa Bar.

My DH loves Bloody Mary's and has gotten many in WDW. His all-time fav was at the Narcoossee's brunch. It was amazing- it had a crab leg in it ( among other things!). His second fav is at the Dawa Bar.

The African one at Dawa (though I found it a bit on the spicy side but just enough for my taste!). :) They have a couple other kinds along w/more of a traditional one as well.

Thanks for those pictures, as they give me fair warning. I'd be pissed if I got a Bloody Mary that wasn't vegetarian.

Hmm, this made me think - I have never seen a bloody mary that WAS vegetarian. At least around here...all come with bacon or a beef stick. I don't eat most meat, so I give that part to my husband.

But, I know everywhere I order one (and I order a lot...they are my favorite drink!!!), it has either beef, bacon, shrimp, etc. Along with the usual veg. I think I would feel cheated if there WASN'T a meat in it! I expect it :)

So I visited the Wikipedia page for Bloody Mary, and it makes no mention of bacon. The traditional garnish is just a lemon wedge and celery stick. It does mention beef bouillon as a possible ingredient, but again, the traditional ingredients are just vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, Tobasco (or other, similar hot sauce), Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.

I'd forgotten the Worcestershire sauce, which isn't vegetarian because it contains anchovies. But because it is kosher (my real concern), it's not an issue for me. Bacon, shrimp, crabs legs, and even the beef bouillon are.

I've never had a Bloody Mary with meat/fish as a garnish. I always order the basic version that comes with lemon and celery.

Thank you everyone! Dawa Bar it is! I looked into the Sunday Brunch at Cali Grill but unfortunately we are doing a split stay with a cruise in between 4 days at Disney and then 3 days at Disney and cruise leaves on a Sunday and comes back on a Sunday....so it will have to be the Dawa. They have four from what I saw listed on the menu....which means I can probably do two in afternoon and two in evening and try them all ;)

I read a review on a blog that states Dawa doesn't serve them after 11am. Not sure if the info is old, or not. Maybe @kastoney can verify from her last trip?

As always, it depends. They only set out so much of the different garnishes, so if they're out by 11:00, they won't get any more. If there's some left, and the bartender isn't busy, that cutoff has been known to be a little flexible.

Well, maybe it's just a Florida thing, but I have any number of places in my own jerk town who jazz up the standard Bloody Mary with any number of meats or seafoods, and it's not really a new thing. One even "garnishes" theirs with a whole fried chicken, but that's more of a goof than anything.

Most Disney locations stick to a very basic Bloody Mary, made with the truly average Finest Call well mix. Any place which doesn't will definitely spell out the ingredients on the menu, and will probably have no issue with omitting something.
