...I just booked 3 rooms for ASMo, at the "std" rate (apparently, there is an extra fee for the "premium" locations! ). What, then, are the best locations (ie: bldg #), not including these "preferred" locations??
(I'd like to be as close to the food court and bus stop as possible, but not necessarily close to the pool)

[edit: ALERT! ALERT! This is my 1,900th post!! Woohoo!!]

I have stayed in the Fantasia Building and the Toy Story. I prefer Fantasia and my son prefers Toy Story. I think Fantasia is considered "preferred" now, but was not when we were there.

We've stayed in Love Bug and it was really nice! Room was very clean, and it was a short walk to the food court/bus stop. It was also VERY QUIET!!! We've also stayed in 101 Dalmations, and again - very quiet; short walk to food court/bus stop.

Personally, I don't think its worth the extra money for the "premium" location. I don't think the All Star Movies is spread out that much, so it really isn't that bad of a walk to the bus stops and food court areas. On both of our stays, upon our return from the parks, we would go to the room and get our mug and walk back to have it filled. It only took a few minutes.

We're heading back to the All Star Movies in October!! My daughter is hoping for a Toy Story Room! She loves the "Andy's Room" play area.

I agree with the dalmation bldg as being the best. I would request building one if possible. We stayed in Love bug 6 this last trip and I definitely thought the walk (although not a *big* deal) was longer. Dal 1 is also closer to the mighty ducks pool so if you, or kids want to check out both pools love bug is a reallly long way from the duck pond. Dal 1 is also the closest standard building to the food court. Love those big dogs smiling at me in the morning on my walk to get coffee. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I'm pretty sure that the Dalmation building is going to be considered "preferred". We always book standard and request Toy Story. It's our favorite section due to the theming and it's also a short walk to the food court and pool. Enjoy.

...that Toy Story is still considered std, because that would be our fave also (we LOVE Buzz Lightyear's ride!!) ??

I booked Saturday and from the CM's info Fantasia and Toy Story are preferred, Dalmations is not preferred.............which made me very happy. :smooth:

We stayed there a few years ago and were in the Buzz building. We found it to be very close to the main pool, main building, foodcourt & bus stop. The parking lot is also to the side which was nice, since we had a rental car during that trip. I would request a room in the Toy Story area. We had a great view of courtyard. Also, we found the food in the foodcourt to be very good. Hope this helps!! :earsboy: :smooth: :earsgirl:

We were at All Star Movies in April. We did pay for the premium location and stayed at Fantasia. All of the buildings are fairly close together, but Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 are the closest to the food court (and pool). However, Dalmatians and Toy Story are not much further away and Toy Story is probably closer to the bus stop. Love Bug is a bit further than the others, beyond Fantasia. ASMo is compact and it's not a long walk to any of the buildings.

When I had called, I was told it was only Fantasia that was "preferred". Maybe this has changed???

I'm agreeing with you Magic. When I called the other week to give my room preference, I was told that Fantasia was the preferred buildings (I was able to but Toy Story on my "wishlist" with no problem).

I haven't been at ASMo before (but will be there from May 31-June 5!), but from the map, it doesn't look to be that bad (walk wise) from any set of buildings.

We stayed at All Star Movies last year. When we stayed, Fantasia was the only preferred group of buildings. If you look at the map of All Star Movies, you'll see that the buildings are all pretty close together. We stayed in the Dalmatian building, and I would have been upset if we would have paid an extra $10 a night to stay in a building that really wasn't THAT much closer. When you walk out of the main building the sidewalk divides. You can either got straight to the pool, or right or left to the Dalmatian and Toy Story. On the other side of the Dalmatian buildings, there are the Mighty Ducks buildings. On the other side of Fantasia there are the Love Bug buildings. So, at the most you have to walk the length of one building to get to yours.

Now at All Star Music and Sports, the buildings are pretty much in a straight line. So, paying the preferred rate for Calypso at Music is worth the money. Otherwise, you would be walking quite a distance.

Sorry, I'm not very good at explaining things. Hope this helps.

....I understood PERFECTLY!! However, now my DS-in-L doesn't want to go to WDW:mad: !! I DID check into alternatives, one being the West Gate Condos (?). And, we'll probably purchase the 7-days-for-the-price-of-4 US/IOA/SW tix......I still wanna stay at WDW!!!:(
