We currently have a split stay booked for early January, 4 nights Pop and 4 nights POR. DH does not want to be switching rooms, and I don’t want to spend the $$ for 8 nights at POR. I am pretty sure that there is no more availability for passholder rate at POP for entire trip.
So, I know Sports has not started refurb. Between the other two, which has the better chance of getting an updated room? If I am reading the boards correctly, I am guessing Movies? I am going to be calling to make a change later today and I thought you would know more accurate information than the CM!

Movies for sure.

Thanks, annoyed because the Movies reservation is no longer available. Sports is at $112 a night. Hesitate to book it, have never stayed there. May take it for the rate and try to change later. I suppose it can’t be much different than the other two?

Movies is completely renovated whereas Music is in the process so you would be guaranteed a renovated room at Movies. Ask them to apply the current special on your room price. Movies is very popular, we are staying there in March, so discounted rooms may have sold out but not at Music. Depends what is more important to you location or price if that is the case. Also, preferred rooms are about $20/night more expensive. It is not a very large resort so, for us, not worth the price difference. Have a great trip.

Just saw your update. I have never stayed at Sports but have stayed at Music twice and visited. Sports tends to get a lot of groups (sports and otherwise). The rooms at Music are "tired" and out of date but clean and the resort was fun. Values are what they are. They are a clean place to stay with all the perks of onsite at a fantastic price. No frills and the rooms are on the small side. We personally love the values for those reasons. You cannot ask for better than $112/night for onsite if price is your motivating factor.

Movies is done. If you want a chance at a refurbished room at All-Star Music I'd probably get a preferred room, call in and request Calapso Building 10 or generally request a refurbished room. It won't be a guarantee, but it's worth a shot.

Ended up with preferred at Music, luckily, because soon after I switched the only availability was at Sports. I requested Calypso figuring it was closest. Will the whole section be refurbed by early January?

You can check the Refurb thread for updates, but I doubt it.

If I had to guess, they'll probably go from building 10 to the next closest which is Jazz 9 and go in a circle until they end with building 1 Calypso.
