Best Beach to visit while @ Disney

We are leaving in 3 weeks for a family vacation. Extended family vacation. Six families total and 31 people in all.

I have been designated the "vacation planner"

We are wanting to do hit a beach on the afternoon that we arrive.

Which one do you suggest? Something somewhat close and clean

I apprechiate any suggestions.

How long are you willing to drive to get to the beach?

My Uncle is a long time resident of Huntington Beach and absolutely adores the beaches there so that is an option.

Last time I was in Southern CA we were in the San Diego area (going to be a significant drive from Anaheim) and absolutely fell in love with La Jolla Shores but it's not going to be a short/easy trip from the Disney area. Many many years ago (before kids) when we did Disney and San Diego we stayed in San Diego for a night to enjoy the area/beaches.

Born and raised in So. Cal. We know live almost an hour from the beaches. Our current favorite beaches are in Newport. Laguna is very nice too!

Beautiful sand and water. Not too far of a walk to to water. Just an FYI, the water at So Cal beaches is cold. sometimes really cold.

Newport Beach can't be beat...it is probably the best beach in 100 miles.

Huntington is also easy to navigate. Newport is my least favorite of the 3.

Newport Beach for pier and watching people surf. There is also a concrete boardwalk on the bay side and you can take boat rides out on the bay and into the ocean. Great deals to be had there. We took a 90 minute bay cruise and they showed us famous homes and then we went onto the Pacific to see the sunset.

Corona Del Mar is just down the street (south) and is connected to Newport by a jetty. It is the perfect crescent shape beach for families and if you want to boogie board or swim.
