Title pretty much says it all.

We will have our own car and want to stop at the beach for a little while before heading back to Anaheim after Legoland

It will be me, DH (lived in CA as a kid), DS7 and my dad (who has never been to CA!)

Thanks in advance....

"Best" is so subjective. What time of year are you talking about? Do you want to go in the water, walk a board walk, eat a meal, or just take in the view? Or something else?

I definitely can't answer in terms of best but we stopped at the beach on our way to Legoland. DH was afraid we would get home and the only picture my kids would have of California was DLR, Legoland, and Sea World. On the way to Legoland we stopped at the beach in Carlsbad so we could all put our toes in the Pacific Ocean. It was literally 5 minutes from Legoland.

We are planning on going Monday, August 2.
We will swim/ play in the water but aren't interested in surfing/ bodysurfing/ or anything like that.
Not really interested in shopping or a boardwalk.
Would love it if we could find an inexpensive seafood restaurant on a pier, or at least an inexpensive (non-seafood) restaurant on a pier/ on the beach.
A great view is really important. My dad has only seen Texas/Gulf beach so we would really like to take his breath away with a CA beach.
We are planning on going in the evening if that makes a difference.

Thanks.

I think Oceanside Pier is the closest to Legoland...

It has a Ruby's at the end, on a clear day is can be a really nice view.

THe beach there is so so, it usually is pretty crowed in the summer.

There is free parking with validation from Ruby's. (you pay at the lot and ruby's will refund after your meal)

LOL, I was reading the previous post and thought the same thing about Ruby's on Oceanside Pier! And then I saw your post.

If you want a nice view and restaurant I would choose La Jolla in San Diego if I could. But that is too far south for you. So Oceanside Pier is a good choice too. BTW, if you go then keep your eyes open for yours truly. After we visit DLR next week we will be in an Oceanside condo for the week that includes Aug 2. and we usually hit Ruby's at least once. :woohoo:

How will you know it is us? Four teenage boys with huge piles of ice cream! :goodvibes And we may be wearing some brand new Disney gear. :cool2:

Haha, that was my first thought.. La Jolla.:rotfl: But I am glad we agreed on Oside
