I do tend to carry too much stuff and rent a locker nd am trying to be a little smarter this trip. Any suggestions as to a good bag that will carry atleast 2 point and shoot cameras and LOTS of film a journal, maps glasses and other small stuff?

I have previously carried a bck pack and a camera bag and found it just too cumbersome.

Any help would be appreciated!

It would seem that you would not wish to carry more than you will shoot in a day; the rest can stay at your resort. Have you considered a mesh vest? Those tend to be best for serious photo-hounds, as they distribute the weight more evenly, though they can be a bit hot when fully loaded.

I have an urban backpack from Totes that I recently got, around $20 from one of their outlet stores. I find it easier than a full backpack because it only has one diagonal strap, so you can swing it around front more easily to access it. It is a little bigger than most backpacks of this style, and is light but nicely padded.

I would get padded sleeves for the cameras so that they don't bang around, and I would carry your glasses on a croaky around your neck or in a clip-on case at your waist. Get a couple of kids' zipper pencil cases for the small items inside the backpack, so they are easily found. If at all possible, ditch the books! Paper weighs a ton.

I carry my camera on my belt loop, and put my credit cards/money/pass in a credit card like holder in the pocket of my jeans! Thats it for me, no fanny pack or book bag, too cumbersome! Whatever I buy, I have sent to the Hotel or buy on my way OUT!:D

I found some really great bags at Eddie Bauer last year and wound up with one thats just about the right size for my notebook, autograph book, wallet paraphanalia, camera, film, ziploc bagged rain poncho, sunscreen, glasses and phone. Its a smallish shoulder bag that I sling diagonally across my shoulder. It worked pretty good last year and I can't wait to get it out and pack it up for our trip next month! :)

I would suggest a clear/see through backpack. Not only will it hold everything you might need for the day, but it will make going through security at the parks much quicker. We had one with us on our trip in Feb and got lots of compliments from the security people.

I purchased the Maxx New York Compartmental Bag from QVC for $29 (retails at Macy's for $78!)

I think it's perfect for traveling and the parks. It lays flat against the body since the large, long strap is on the back side of the bag, not the sides of the bag. I wear it over my head, slung over my hip. It has pockets galore. One for my maps, small ones for the tickets, a back pocket for quick cash for treats, and a huge inside for my camera, bottle of water, wallet, cell phone, hubby's wallet, cell phone etc... It has a total of 7 pockets. But they are spread out. 2 are hidden on the sides of the bag.

Before I found this bag, I used a NineWest sport bag with many compartments, but found that the shoulder strap annoyed me. I like the Maxx bag since I can wear it and have my hands free.

Also, it's very fashionable :)

For any of you familiar with Farmer Jack grocery stores, they are carrying the clear back packs for $10, wish they had them back in February for our trip. ~:)~

... is a consistent source. They always have them in the school uniform section, as some schools only allow the clear kind.
