Total newbie here! First time going to WDW in April! I have a crossbody bag for basics: wallet, meds, Kleenex, wipes, Unofficial guide book, etc. My husband will be taking a backpack that will carry snacks, water and other basics ...what is the best backpack to get?

ETA: Okay, after reading the thread on what's in your park bag, my bag will contain: wallet, meds (epipen, Benadryl), lipstick, sunscreen, Kleenex, wipes, bandaids, sunglasses/glasses, camera, sunscreen, MAYBE the Unofficial guide book (does anyone bring that to the park??) and sanitizer. DH's bag will contain the snacks (granola bars, apples, Welch's gummies, etc), water, his wallet and his phone. I tend to be an over-packer, especially when it comes to food with my son's food allergies.

I just use one of my kids old school backpacks - the one I'm currently using is a jansport brand - not the giant one but a regular size.

It's perfect for me with padded shoulders that helps it be more comfortable.

I ordered a backpack cooler from Amazon, and it's the best money I've ever spent on a Disney bag. It's sturdy, holds a ton, and isn't too heavy. We got the green one, but it comes in different colors:

Thanks Connie, Thanks Denneg for replying!! Denneg, that backpack looks terrific and what a great price -thank you for sharing!

ETA: Denneg, thanks again for the backpack - I went ahead and ordered one - so exciting to find one at such a good price! (the one I was eyeing from MEC was $59!)

I have a Disney 2000 backpack perfect on every trip including last week's; DIL & son just purchased separate back paks at AK and MK last week. All have several compartments for whatever items you want and much comfort on the shoulders. Avoid the string bak paks, they last a few trips but are very uncomfortable.

Thanks for posting!

We've used an Igloo Backpack cooler for about 5-6 years now (likely over 15 WDW trips). It's starting to rip and replacing it has been on our list of things to do. I think this one is worth a try!
Thanks!:thumbsup2

I love my Camel-bak Mule. I tried on various brands and models before arriving at that brand and model. I recommend you do the same (try on a bunch of different brands and models) because every fit is different, and the fit really matters.

Ouch, that's a lot to lug around all day. Perhaps u could stow it in a locker and go lighter? I either go with a cc in my pocket or a simple lightweight material pack that hangs over my shoulders that carries sanitizer wipes, lip stuff, tissues, little water spray bottle n cc. It depends on weather for me... But I love not carrying anything. And many times, I even use a locker for that and go to it if needed ( by the way, if u hop, show ur receipt, u don't get charged again).
Have a great time!

hope this image works, first time doing it.
I picked this up by accident. DW described a bag at AK that she wanted and since I was there picked this up. Well it wasnt what she wanted, but it is the one bag I will not go without. Great pouch for the phone, c-ring to hold the water bottle from, front pouch for drink crystals. Middle pouch, has zipper and goes all the way to the bottom, so valubles go here, wallet, or now just cc,car keys. Pocket on the back, exact size for dd autograph book.
Perfect size for all our needs. Good Mistake:lmao:

Love my cooler backpack I got at Target for $25. Kept our frozen water bottle frozen all day in the Sept heat.

Take the guidebook but leave it in the room. The free maps that are handed out at each park should be all you need to get around.

I would never bring along enough to need a backpack. Wallet, reading and sunglasses and camera is all I need. Bag usually has outside pocket for tucking a water bottle.

A cross bag body is much more convenient. It lays across your front, so it has easy access to camera and other items. I pack as little as possible and make do. Items for bag: small camera, tissues, small pill case, small sunscreen, phone, hand sanitizer wipes. Have fun an don't worry about lugging so much stuff!!
