Best and Worst Jobs

Mine's #91. I have to say, they definitely are off on the stress level, physical demands (depending on the assignment) and job responsibilities. I also don't make that much. Well, considering I'm out of work, I don't make anything.

Hmmm, I didn't see my last job on the list. Funny though, "Starbucks Manager" was my best AND worst job!

Speech language pathologist came in at 21, but I would much, much rather do that than software engineering (zzzzzz). My boyfriend is a software engineer, and I think working with the kids I see would drive him absolutely NUTS. It's a cool list, but personal preference has to count for a lot.

I'm an electrical engineer and my DW is an SLP. Some of the experiences she's had with students and parents would curl your hair. I wouldn't do her job for twice what I make.

Ha! *I* have the best job in the world and it's not there! I work from home with my own cake business - birthday cakes, wedding cakes, topsy turvy cakes, carved cakes... I *love* my job!

My mom works at two schools, and she always said the happiest are SLPs and OTs. Pretty cool to see Audiology is #9.

Accountant- #12. I would say that salary is pretty accurate for where I live only if you are looking at someone that's within 3-5 years of graduating college. The stress level is way off.

I'm finishing up school to become a court reporter, which is # 31 on the list. I just looked at the median salary for it, and I would REFUSE to do this job if the salary were that low in California. Why do people even do this job when the salary is that low? Court reporting is a stressful job, and court reporting school makes you question your sanity to the point of questioning whether or not you need to be on a lot more meds than you already are..

Well, you live in a very expensive part of the country and $50K in many parts of the country is a very, very nice wage, especially for a job that doesn't require any kind of a degree (just a certification).

Good luck on finishing up in school! We always need more great court reporters out there. I've been reporting for 23 years now and still love my job. You may make that when you first start; but when you build up your transcription speed, it's easier to make much more than that.
