Can anyone recommend a decent airport hotel, reasonably priced, for our first night in Orlando?

We will be traveling with 3 families total and will be arriving after 8PM, so I'd like a shuttle from the airport and breakfast the next morning. We plan on taking a van service into Disney the next day to begin our WDW reservation.

Thanks in advance!

There are quite a few good choices near/in the airport. I always just bid for a 3* hotel in the MCO area on Priceline. They are all nice and all have complimentary shuttle service 24/7.

Priceline books at the Hyatt (inside the airport), the Holiday Inn Select, the Renaissance and the Marriott. Typically rooms go for $38 or $40/night for these hotels. All would be 2 to 3 times that amount or more if booked directly. You could just bid for 3 rooms at once so your entire party wound up at the same hotel. (occasionally the Crowne Plaza also shows up as a 3 star on Priceline, but not too often)

We have stayed at all of these (except the Crowne Plaza) on Priceline bids and have always been pleased.

There is also a Sheraton Suites and an Embassy Suites near the airport that are a little more expensive, but are also nice and provide complimentary shuttle service, if you prefer suite type accomodations. The Embassy suites rates also include a full breakfast for everyone, so if you will be getting a leisurely start the next day it might be worth it.

We usually arrive late, and want to go to sleep and rise early to get to WDW, so we almost always do the Priceline thing now...can't beat the price or convienence. (we got the Hyatt inside the airport for our April trip for $36/night and it was $169/night through Hyatt!!)

The trip I am looking to book rooms for is not until December, so when should I wait to make my bid? Will we be guaranteed a hotel at/near the airport? We have 2 two-year-olds who will be ready to go straight to bed so being as close to the airport as possible is important.

If you bid for a hotel in the MCO area on Priceline you are guarenteed to be in or very close to the airport. All of the 3* and most (but not all) of the 21/2* hotels have complimentary shuttle service to/from airport 24/7, that is why I would stick with a 3* hotel. All of them have places (reasonably priced) to eat breakfast, but few offer complimentary breakfast (not too many hotel in Orlando do)

I would go ahead and try a bid for $38 now. If that doesn't work you could always wait a week and try again (bidding once a week or so until sucessful in the $38 to $40 range) ) It seems like the airport zone has availability earlier than some other zones.

I bid in late Nov or early December for our April trip and got the Hyatt in the airport for $36. I have seen bids this week for the same dates where it took mid $40's to get a room...you just never know, but I have about decided that it never hurts to bid early on Priceline as long as you have limits on what you are willing to pay.

I think any of the 3 star hotels in the airport zone have excellent shuttle service. In November, my youngest was in bed asleep less than 45 minutes after we stepped off the plane and we were at the Holiday Inn Select. I can't honestly say it saved much, if any time to stay at the Hyatt inside the airport, the shuttle gets you to the hotel about as fast as you can hike back upstairs to the Hyatt (others might disagree, that's just my opinion).

There is the psychological advantage of the Hyatt though!! It is nice to think that once you get off the plane you are there. But don't be disapointed if you get one of the off sites...they are still REALLY easy and convienent.

Let us know how you come out.
