Best age for one on one trip?

I have been thinking for a while about taking each of my 3 kids (6, 5, and 2) on a one on one trip once they hit a certain age. (This would be in addition to the week long family trip we are all taking this spring and will probably do another week long family trip when they're bigger). Each of my kids are so different and I think it would be so special for them to have a short trip with Mom focusing only on them and their interests. Anyway I was thinking of doing this at age 8 or 9 but after reading the thread about when kids lose the "magic" I am thinking harder about the best age to do this. Any ideas?

I think 8 is a great age. They'll be old enough to hold onto the memories, yet young enough to still appreciate the magic. Sure, they'll be old enough to realize that Cinderella isn't really Cinderella, but in the long run that shouldn't play a big part in the decision.

I went to Disney for the first time when I was 8, and I remember a lot. I have gone with my neice several times through various ages, the and 8-10 timeframe are the ones she remembers most. I would go with memories over "magic" and do late school-age/tween because they probably still want to hang out with you and will have knowledge-based preferences on how they want to be spoiled.

I think 6 or 7 would be perfect. It's that sweet spot where they are old enough to remember and young enough to believe in magic.

Our younger daughter was 7, 2 months from turning 8, on our trip last year and I thought she was the *perfect* age. She was just tall enough for every ride, she didn't need strollers, naps, breaks, and she just loved everything about it. Definitely still had that magic.

I just took my 9 year old, 7 year old and 5 year old on one on one trips for their bdays. All 3 trips were wonderful and completely unique to each child. :) So many fun memories made with each of them.
