I'm trying to advise newbie travelers on how to get from resort to resort. They will have dinner at Whispering Canyon in the Wilderness Lodge, and need to get back to Port Orleans Riverside. I told them the best way is either a taxi, or a boat to the Magic Kingdom, then a bus back to POR.

Also, they will have a California Grill dinner. I told them either a taxi, or monorail to Magic Kingdom, then bus to POR.

Is this good advise?? Anyone have better advise?? Thanks!! :)

Your advice is good.

From the California Grill at Disney's Contemporary, it's also an easy walk back to the Magic Kingdom bus stops for a bus to POR. It will save time because it means not waiting for a Monorail and not making all the other stops as the Monorail goes to TTC, Poly, and GF before getting to MK.

Just be sure to have them watch Magic Kingdom hours. A late dinner and an early MK closing are not a good combination.

Agreed. My main concern would be timing and knowing what parks are still open when they finish dinner.

Another option - I had dinner at Artist Point at WL this year and got from there back to POFQ by catching an Epcot bus at WL and transferring there for POFQ. I think Epcot is always open till at least 9 pm, and is a fairly convenient transfer spot for POFQ/POR.

A bus to Downtown Disney (and then catch your resort bus there) as the pleasure island is open fairly late (close between 12:30am-2:00 am). So that is always an option if parks are closed (buses go up to 1 hour after park closing).

Any meals at the monorail resorts (like we have one at Ohana) can take monorail to TTC and then bus to your resort. The monorail runs an hour after MK closes (not including EMH)...though it also sometimes randomly shuts down.

If there is any doubt as to whether or not a park is open, just take the bus to DTD, from the resort, and then hop on the boat back to POR. Nice way to end the day.

Oh yeah! And the boats at DD stop going at 11:30pm.

Thank you so much for these great ideas! I don't think park closing time will be an issue. Their Whispering Canyon reservation is at 6:35, and the Magic Kingdom closes at 10. And, their California Grill reservation is at 5:15, and the Magic Kingdom closes at 11. I really like the idea of a bus to DTD, and a boat back to POR. I will offer all these ideas! Thanks!! I can see how easily a first timer could walk out of the restaurant, and not have a clue what to do to get home!
