Arriving in LA from overseas April 24 and staying till the 29th. We (DH, DS16, DD13) want to visit DL and DCA and stay in a hotel off-site. We are allotting 1 day for each park.

Is it best to visit Friday and Saturday or Sunday and Monday? I am assuming that Saturday and Sunday will be the most crowded.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

I would do the Sunday and Monday. Fridays and Saturdays draw a lot of locals.

I agree with Sunday, Monday. If you're not getting Park Hoppers, I would do Sunday DCA & Monday DL.

But, if you're getting park hoppers, then "hop" to DCA each afternoon (doing DL in the early morning & evening).

One other idea/thought. Compare the price of a 2 day park hopper to a 3 day hopper. You can go on Tuesday morning & enjoy MM (which comes with a 3 day hopper) & early morning DL on an uncrowded Tuesday.

Even if only a morning tour that 3rd day, it might be worth it since you'll get MM (& be just a few dollars more than a 2 day hopper).

Remember that Aladdin show in DCA is a must do & is not available on Monday & Tuesdays.

Have fun at Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

We have a flight out of LAX at 2pm. Will that give us enough time to do a morning tour?

You'd get in an hour early with the hopper pass, which should be around 8 (if the park opens at 9). That would give you 2-3 hours to spend before you had to head to the airport. I'd say go for it!:thumbsup2

My DD and I flew out of LAX on our last trip, and we had a rental car. We left Anaheim at 11ish and we were at the airport, having gassed up the car and turned it in, by noon. We weren't checking luggage, so we were able to make it to a 1 pm flight just fine, even though the security line was ENORMOUS! It was a Sunday, too, so probably a bit more crowded at the airport, but possibly a bit LESS crowded on the freeway...

If tuesday the 21st is your departing day it looks like MM would open at 8am. I would think you could have a great time touring an empty park between 8 - 10:30.

So i agree with TerMoo. Assuming you have a car, it should be doable....& fun. :thumbsup2

Thanks to all who replied! Am not sure if we will have a car to go to the airport, and we will have luggage to check in for sure. Will this change your recommendations about doing a morning tour?

If you take a shuttle bus to the airport, I would assume they'd want to pick you up around 11:30 for a 2 pm flight. You could find that out by calling the shuttle company. Since the Early Entry time at DL is 8 that morning, it would be up to you whether you wanted to get up early enough to pack, check out of your hotel and run over to the park for 2 - 2 1/2 hours. For some families this would be fine; others might feel rushed around. You have to gauge what your family is capable of.

Exactly what ter-moo says.

(but the commando hound family would be up early & eat a breakfast snacky....then be at the DL gate at 7:30am & would do 5 FantasyLand rides & Buzz & SM (during MM) & then 4-5 other rides after MM. (probably Indy, Pirates, HM, BTMRR, & maybe Jungle Cruise)...between 8 - 10am :hippie: Lots of time to EAT on the bus & waiting for the plane.)

Thanks ter-moo and Hound 109! I do veer toward the commando style. We will be packed the night before so we can enjoy Tues am at the park.

Unless they have changed something, all tix of 2 days or more are hoppers. This was implemented to encouarge people to visit DCA.

Good to know. :thumbsup2

But don't they have some SoCal deal (not applicable to the OP) where one gets 1 day at each park (not a park hopper)? Or was that last year?

I think last year there was the twofer promotion where you could buy a one-day ticket and go to each park one day. It might have been only for SoCal people.
