best 1 bedroom or studio at okw

That's pretty subjective. It depends what is important to you. Some folks want to enjoy the golf course view, others could care less and just want to be able to walk to the Hospitality House area or to step outside to a bus stop. Think about what you'd most enjoy and list your requests that way and you'll probably end up happy at OKW. :)

I agree that it depends on what you are looking for. On our first OKW trip I wanted to be near the HH. We got building 26, which had a nice golf course & water view. Our second trip I requested the same and got building 28. While we were there, I looked across and thought the buildings on Turtle Pond Road looked nice and were in a more quiet section. We had a rental car, so distance to the HH really wasn't a big deal. So I requested Turtle Pond Road with a water view on our last trip and got building 31. We loved this section, with lots of ducks, birds, rabbits and even a turtle!

If this is your first trip and you do not have a car, I would suggest requesting a room near the HH. Then take a look around to see what you might like for the next trip. If you have a car, then you may want to look for a more quiet area with a golf course, water or woods view, whatever you prefer.

PamOKW and DebbieB are right when they say it is personal preference on which location is the best. We like to request bldgs 11-14, right across from the HH, and we always have a rental car.But it is nice to walk a few yards to the HH house without getting in your car. Here is a color resort map of OKW below:D

We like bdg 42. great location , right bye the turtle shack and the pool. Its so close you could actually walk to the pool in about 10 seconds ...... its like having a pool in your backyard...dave:cool:

don't forget, not all of the buildings have the same setup for the bathrooms in the one bedrooms. If you are staying with other people you probably want one of the rooms with the two entrances to the bathroom.

If you are in a situation where you will need or want two entrances into the bathroom (this is very handy) , you'll need to request buildings number 30 and higher. These begin on Turtle Pond and continue into the South Point area. Also the three new buildings numbered in the 60's have this arrangement.

I am also going to OKW (this August) for my first time. We will have 3 small kids (6,4 and 2) - what are the odds we will get a studio near HH? We will not have a rental car - and would hate to have to take the bus back to the HH everytime the kids want to go to the main pool. How long of a walk is it? I stayed at Dixie Landings (i'm sorry - POR-Riverside!) in 1998 - and we were in the Mansion area. The walk to the main building/food court was a bit long - but not bad (beautifully landscaped, and pleasant) ...so if that is the case - I won't mind...
Thanks for your insights. :)

It is a beautiful resort - the walk in enjoyable - I would ask for a room near a pool - the quiet pools are (too me) as great as the main pool - the one near building 55 looks out on the river going to DD.

the main pool is a little larger than the quiet pools - but generally I would try the quiet pool and see how your kids like it - now if they are looking for friends (kids their now ages) - yes then the main pool would probably be a better source. all quiet pools have a playground, whirlpool tub (adults only). the one a Turtle pond has a very large playground, a snack bar, and an arcade.

Check out the link to the resort by ncligs. Once you decide where you want to stay, call MS and put it on you reservation (list an option just in case the first is not available).

Have a great stay at OKW, we always do.:D

thanks for the help. I am renting points from a DVC member and they requested buildings 19 & 20 - near a bus stop, near a quiet pool - and it looks walkable to HH. Sounds like the walks should be nice - so I am sure we will love it. My sister and I are going (and leaving the hubbies at home!) and our kids are young enough that they prefer to play with their moms - so meeting friends is not huge yet. The quiet pools sound like they should fit the bill. Thanks again. We are soooo excited!!:Pinkbounc
