We are going with another family who are new to Disney and will have the Disney Dining Plan. We will not have the dining plan and have never had the dining plan and I am trying to guide them on it's use.

They plan to use most of the snack credits for their twin boys who are hardy eaters and will want to snack all day long. I don't really want them too sugared up....lol. Besides the sweets, what other options are there? I assume popcorn, whole fruit? What about a serving of fries at quick service counter? Soft pretzel? Egg roll? Any of the sides at counter service?

Big soft pretzels with cheese sauce, fresh fruit, popcorn, hummus & pita bread, mac & cheese in Germany, croissants, caramel apples are some of our favorite non sweet snacks!

Let's see, lots of options! There's the fried rice or egg rolls at Yak & Yeti. Fries or onion rings at many QS locations, sometimes a soup or small salad even. Definitely the pretzels.

Anywhere that sells pastries might have non-sweet varieties like bagels - the patisserie in the France pavilion has lobster bisque, a bacon & cheese roll, and a ham & cheese croissant among their savory snack credit offerings, for example.

I swear, if they offered a snacks-only DDP, I might just jump on it and make meals out of savory snacks!

What about a Casey's hotdog? Only a hotdog, no fries or drink....would that be a snack credit?

I doubt it. A few years back, Disney made an effort to exclude any "main course" offerings as a snack credit, at least among Disney owned restaurants. The corn dog nuggets there used to be a snack credit, now they aren't.

Yes to the egg rolls and pretzels you asked about.

Things like fries, soup, and a bowl of chilli are all also considered snack credits. Animal Kingdom has a huge variety of snack credits including the fried rice mentioned above, things like hummus, edamame, sliders, mac and cheese (MK also has a pot roast mac and cheese), etc etc. And like a PP suggested, the bakery in France is pretty awesome for snack credit meals. I tend to pick up pastries for breakfast from there. Oh and I find smoothies pretty filling and at least a little more nutritious (and available pretty much everywhere). Another idea is baked potatoes in MK.

The oatmeal is on as a snack. Is that correct? That would be a better option than a danish for breakfast!

Yep - DH got that last time. I'm planning on biscuits n gravy!!! Also, last trip we were at Pop and DD and I both got a make your own yogurt parfait. It tuned out to be super filling for a snack credit!

A website, thewdwguru has a very comprehensive list of every single avail snack credit item in all of WDW. I cannot copy and paste the link per the website, so you'll need to visit it on your own. It is impressive.

ETA-well, apparently the list originated from disboards. So that being said he is the link. Not sure where to find it on the DIS.

A snack dining plan would be great....I might even consider that type of plan and snack all day!

This would be awesome, especially since you can use snack credits for Starbucks drinks (any type/size) and the food carts at Epcot during the F&W and F&G festivals; but it's safe to say that Disney definitely wants us in the restaurants .
