what is your favourite way to save money whileplace to save money while booking a hotel room?

I need to book a room for one night in Cleveland but don't want to use hotwire or priceline.

Check kayak.com. Not name your own price, but that is one of the best meta search sites I have found.

Is there some reason you want to avoid them? Bad experiences?

no, no bad experience :)

I am travelling with my grandfather and my 9 year old, so we need two beds which puts out priceline. And I think Hotwire has only 1 hotel in the downtown Cleveland area that is coming up for the date I need, and It does not offer free parking or breakfast, so I think if I check other websites I might be able to pay a bit more but get a hotel that includes parking and breakfast too, making it a better deal.

I like hotels.com. I always make sure the actual hotel can't do better, of course. :)

I like Travelocity. I've used it for NYC and for Washington, DC. Good luck getting nice hotels at good rates.

I use Priceline for hotels in Cleveland at least every other month and I've never had a problem getting 2 beds. After I win the bid, I call the hotel directly and ask if I can get 2 beds and it's always worked. I know that can be hard in NYC, but Cleveland should be ok.

We are a family of 5 and I am a hugh priceline person. As soon as I get my reservation, I call the hotel that I won from. I tell them we want to request 2 beds, they say OK and I always get it.

It does say that if you need more than 1 bed, you need to contact hotel directly. I imagine the hotels are quite used to this.

If you are a teacher or a government employee, the Holiday Inn Express on Euclid Ave offers $75/night.

I am not sure any hotels downtown offer free parking. I think most cities' downtown hotels have to charge for it. I could be wrong, and will browse around today since I'm home sick.
