Benefits of booking via AAA

We had great service with AAA on our 7 night West Coast (Mexico) cruise. We had a Cat 9 room and got $150 on board credit, & everyone in our group got the travel bags someone mentioned. I know the amount of the onboard credit depends on what category you booked (cat 10 & 11 only got $75). We booked about 10 months in advance, so getting early seating was not a problem. When we re-booked on board ship, we were given the option of keeping the same travel agent and of course we said yes.

I am very happy with my AAA TA, she is great. I have booked with her for WDW trips before, she is always helpful and very informed.
I just wanted to say that I booked 15 months out and requested early seating, we are listed online for late seating, I called DCL, and told them that I had requested early seating, they told me that I was on the waiting list, they said that when I booked my cruise in June of 04 early seating was already full. WOW everyone on this cruise must have requested early seating.

We have a cruise coming up in March 2006 that we booked through AAA... We are getting a $150 on board ship credit for a cat 9.

However - our agent left and they transferred our resv to another agent... fine. I called the other day to set up another cruise - and I knew more than this guy! I was telling him things he never heard of. He didn't even know the itineraries! (I agree with the previous poster - you need to be more excited if I am handing you a $7K check!)

Well here's the thing - USAA has offered to beat any price we find! So I have been working the internet and phone lines. Truth be told - AAA is one of the best priced out there right now! Dreams Unlimited is actually even better!

Fortunately the guy at USAA (military) is a really nice and eager to talk about cruises! Just my 2 cents! ;)

Just my two cents...

We've booked through AAA and have been pretty happy. We get the $150 onboard credit because of getting rid of the mugs, but not sure about any other perks as of yet!!

I did lots of research before hand and found Sam's club had the best prices, so I got a written quote from them and my AAA agent matched it and I still got the perks.

Hope this helps some!!

We are booked for a 7 day Eastern through AAA following our 4 night stay at WDW. I checked out our Itinerary/Invoice and it states:

AAA benefits:
:cool1: onboard credit good toward merchandise, spatreatments, shore excursions and other onboard activities.
:cool1: AAA vacations luggage tags

It doesn't specify the $$ amount of the credit and my TA didn't tell me what it was. :confused3 Did you all have to ask or wait until you are onboard???

Now I'm curious how much credit we'll get :scratchin

19 of us booked through AAA (local rep) for our May 2005 Western. We all received the shipboard credits, but that was it. As I was researching for our next May 2006 cruise, AAA was $2000 HIGHER than Dreams Unlimited!! They said something about Disney no longer offering early booking bonuses. Whatever. :confused3 DU is now my TA of choice! :cool1:

I've always used AAA and done well, but it is always good to do your homework before using anybody. We're booked for a DCL Eastern 7 day cruise for mid Oct Cat 7 Deck 7 Nav Verandah plus Romance Pkg for $3500 thru AAA. We've also got $250 shipboard credit which was confirmed thru the AAA TA afterbeing booked. The credit was originally $150 because of the Cat 7 but we booked at the AAA vacation show held at Gillette Stadium and I knew they would be offering more, so we got $100 extra. Last year we booked our WDW trip with 2 other couples thru AAA and got $200 Disney dollars and other discounts/coupons per couple. If your not sure about your shipboard credit, call way before you go to get your facts straight. I handle the finances with our trips and I make sure of all the facts before so there's no suprises. Best of luck and get as much as you can anywhere. pirate:

Normally Disney offers shipboard credits. Not always but quite alot here lately. It depends alot on the amount of your over all cruise to the amount you will receive. When we book our next cruise (not with AAA) we got a ship board credit and a rebate amount back.

I'm a nerd. Our AAA shipboard credit was $150. and will be again in August. My mom was in a cat 11 and got the $75. credit. I guess I could shop around more to get a better deal, but, I like my TA!

AAA members can get % off spa treatments? Is that new...>?

Keep in mind that the onboard credits are not just category based, but based as well on how many nights your cruise is. We did 7 night, cat 9 and got $150 credit and the travel bag. If you do fewer nights, the onboard credit is less. The other perks (stuffed animal, etc) may have been specific things that your local office or TA threw in as part of a special they may have been doing.

Also, a non-AAA member traveling with an AAA member can book through AAA and also get the same benefits. We've done it for families traveling with us on DL packages in the past.

Is it possible to switch our reservation FROM Disney to AAA after we made it? We're booked on the 7 night Western Cruise December 17th. I was planning on paying in full early next week so we can do online reservations for Palo, Spa, etc - we got REAS so we can book at 105 days out.

Is it worth doing it at this point?

Yes, it is possible! I have had ours through Disney originally, and I was able to transfer it to AAA for the same price as I have had it all along. We were about ready to make our final payments...like 1 day away, and they were able to catch me before I did.

It just has to be before your final payment. So give them a call before you make it. We had the REAS too, and I was concerned it would be in time for our 105 day mark, but it was, and I made all my bookings no problem. Since we had two staterooms, we got $225.00 in stateroom credit. $150 for one, and $75 for the other. That is why I transferred it to them. Even though I did all the work, I figured it was our pictures, beverages, and miscellaneous things taken care of! :cheer2: :cheer2: Totally worth it to us!!

does anyone know if AAA members get a discount at Vista Spa? Someone else posted that but I don't remember seeing it in any docs...
