Benefit of transferring vs. renting points?

I am a DVC owner, (BLT & SSR), but don't understand the benefit of transferring versus renting points.

Is it that owners can make their own reservation?

When you rent, you are responsible for:

Collect money -Make the reservation,
Give renter reservation number,
Making dining plan reservations
Helping make Disney Magical Express Reservations,
Possibly change names on reservations as renter adds/ deletes people
Answering renters questions.
Worry renter leaves bad credit card or leaves damage (you are responsible if they can't go after the renter)
DVC will not work with you but there are services like David's that will make things easier for a fee.

When you transfer to another DVC member it is one and done : Accept money, transfer points.

FYI - DVC rules prohibit receiving money for a transfer.
