Bendy & Her Friendies V2 ... This Bar Never Closes! New Thread Started!

When I bought a specialty drink at the Revolution bar at the Mirage, they had a special martini glass in a box that you got with purchase. I had it in a bag from the Cirque Love store to carry around, but even that didn't stop me from stumbling over my own feet. :(

But in other news...

While I was in Vegas, I got a phone call that a bottle of Sam Adams Utopias was available if I still wanted to buy it from my local wine store. Hell yeah!

I'm now the proud owner of a bottle of Utopias.

Woman, you have all the luck. We're still on the effing waiting list here in Stinktown. I'm never going to be able to give my hubba that damn bottle.

Anyhoo ... I'm glad you got yours. Maybe we'll drive up to Chicago some day with more chocolate cigars and you can give us a pour equal to or smaller than what we'd receive at a F&W deminar. :rotfl2:

Yeah, I was tired. I was thinking it was a great idea and how in the world did they invent a box that would allow you to purchase your martini and then carry it around to the venue of your choice?:thumbsup2

Only in Vegas would they see a need and find a solution. :rotfl:

We're going to a French Wine Dinner tomorrow night with some friends. Friday is going to be a verrrry long day but it will be worth it. :rotfl2:

Sounds like it will be fun!

Congrats on the Utopias!! Enjoy!!:cool1:

Brenda and TDC Nala, I've always wanted to go to Red Square. Anything you particularly recommend? Is it hard to get a reservation? We'll be back to Vegas for the long trip (the actual convention...not the planning sessions) in March. I'm thinking Red Square should be on our list. :thumbsup2

I booked a reservation at Red Square about three months out only because we both wanted to try it so badly that I didn't want to risk being disappointed.

It was busy when we were there in April 2008 but not packed. The food was excellent ... I have a rather lengthy review posted in my blog (with pictures). I can find you the link if you'd like to take a look.

There wasn't anything food-wise that wasn't very good. Drinks are over-priced, obviously, but still terrific!

Thanks, Brenda. I just popped over to your blog and searched for it. April 28, 2008. I'm off to have a fun read!! :thumbsup2

I got an email from one of my early December WDW trip friends last night. I am devastated right now, but my grief cannot match hers. Her DH died while out biking with friends yesterday. He was only 45 and in good health. He and Sandy have 4 children, 3 in college and one a senior in HS. It is beyond my ability to comprehend right now.

I'm so sorry Elin. Sending you a

I came back from Vegas late afternoon, so now I'm catching up.

Robin: Disney Store, circa 1995. They put the menorah in a "home for the holidays" Christmas box. Go figure. I haven't seen anything like it since.

I don't remember all the comments about disaster movies, but I would want to see it. I liked "Independence Day" and "Day After Tomorrow". So maybe I'd enjoy this, too.

Elin: I'm sorry about your friend's loss.

And for those who don't have me on Facebook, I enjoyed my food, my booze, and getting a surprise over my shoulder at Table 10. Emeril came out to greet friends of his dining at a table kitty-corner behind us. I really wanted to snap a photo, but my upbringing just wouldn't allow me to intrude upon his privacy!

And I posted in Chelsi's food report that I said "Suck it, Disney!" after having foie gras in Vegas. At least they don't ban it there. I have plenty of food porn. I think we need another thread just for that. ;)

Glad you had a great trip Lori! And that you got your foie gras!

Thanks for the info about the Disney menorah. I figured it was older since I don't recall seeing anything like that recently. I searched on the internet a bit too and didn't find anything like that. Oh well, one less thing to spend my money on :goodvibes

Like my new ticker? It says "let's eat" but the castle covers it up for now. I thought it was very appropriate!

I went ahead and made our adr's even though I haven't made a hotel reservation yet. Hopefully it's a sign because I had no trouble getting anything at all even though we're well past the 180 day mark.

CRT breakfast on Olivia's birthday
Le Cellier lunch
Chef Mickey's breakfast
Kona dinner
(Beaches and Cream)
Rose and Crown dinner
Boma dinner
and another day that I've left free. Yes, I decided that we need 9 nights!!!!
DH isn't aware of that yet--he's going to give birth to a brick...

Sorry to hear you cancelled you Dec trip but it looks like you are just rolling with plans for the new trip. Planning is half the fun anyway. Sounds like a great line up, and what fun for Olivia to be there on her birthday!

I will be there the first week in May but it sounds like you are going a bit earlier than me so I don't think our paths will cross.

Been sorting out some Vegas food photos and I don't ever want food again.

We hit a lot of restaurants.
Cabo Wabo Cantina
Koi
Society Cafe
Carnevino
Table 10
L'Atelier
Red Square
Stripsteak
Spago
Bradley Ogden
Mesa Grill
Beijing Noodle No. 9

Some of those were just for drinks or appetizers though.

Wow, you did hit a lot of places! Are you going to do any reviews?

We're going to a French Wine Dinner tomorrow night with some friends. Friday is going to be a verrrry long day but it will be worth it. :rotfl2:

Sounds like fun:thumbsup2 And I thought Fridays at work didn't count! The work week really should end on Thursday!

I posted a quick run-down of the beer & food pairing we did last week on the blog ... the formatting is wonky but at least it's not microscopic font.

I'm publishing fast right now because I still can't work out very much - stupid cough won't go away and I still feel kind of cruddy but not all the time.

Meh.

I will start us a new thread this weekend too ... just in time for the holidays. Our third thread in a year ... that's impressive friendies. Verrrry impresssive. :goodvibes

Just read the food and beer pairings! Look GREAT!!!!! Even the meat clot!

That meat clot was really tasty!

You should check out the latest update on the pie thread ... two awesome pics of Lori peering through palmhenge. :rotfl2:

Better go buy an eyedropper. :rotfl2:

I still think I needed a pith helmet. ;)

As for Red Square, we didn't actually eat anything, unless the three-eyed fish candy swizzle counts as food.

I'd like to do a review, but I've been too lazy to even copy the pics off the camera onto my computer!

Anyone have their holiday menu(s) planned yet?

Yup... my sister is making reservations and paying for it...

I'm glad to be in good company! :goodvibes I'm afraid the ADR line is going to flag me for cancelling and changing reservations so many times!

ohhh if they haven't thrown me out yet... :lmao:

We're going to a French Wine Dinner tomorrow night with some friends. Friday is going to be a verrrry long day but it will be worth it. :rotfl2:

Take a nap.. I'll call you around 11 and wake you up... :)

& Lori... I thought for sure that instead of the pith helmet... that you should be over at the Jungle Cruise... handing out drinks to those of us who ignored the fact that the stand by line was 5 X the posted time... :rotfl2:

If anyone is interested, my mini-trip report for the HHI birthday bash is up on my blog along with all the pictures from the weekend.
What a magical sounding birthday. I'm sure your DD will remember it forever. It was also amazing to see that you can still swim in the ocean at Hilton Head - I thought it would too cold in November.

Is anyone else planning to see the movie 2012 now that it's been released?

I love cheesy disaster movies, especially the ones that don't realize they're cheesy. This one looks like it fits the bill perfectly! :rotfl2:

Saw it last night (it was like a private viewing because there was only 10 of us in the whole theater, and that plot had more holes in it than Swiss Cheese. I mean how many falling buildings, falling bridges, gaping chasms and balls of fire can aperson dodge by the skin of their teeth before it's not funny anymore! Oh well, at least I got Adam Lambert singing at the end. His album comes out on Monday and it's a very interesting collection of songs. Is anyone else buying it?

I liked the 3D effects in Christmas Carol but found the many faces of Jim Carrey very distracting. I just don't like that guy for some reason.

We just finished 'Up'. Started watching out here in the living room since dh is so sick and was in the theater (there are reclining seats). 30 min in, the DVD stopped working! We kicked dh out of the theater (he is fine with it) and watched the rest on Blu Ray in there.
You actually have a theater in your house - not just some rec room? Wow, I'm seriously impressed. I'm going to rent Up because I missed it in the summer as well. BTW, what is Zumba?

Her DH died while out biking with friends yesterday. He was only 45 and in good health. He and Sandy have 4 children, 3 in college and one a senior in HS. It is beyond my ability to comprehend right now.

That must be so shocking... so unexpected... it really leaves one at a loss for words. My heart goes out to the family :sad1: :sad1:

Friendies be with me--I just had to explain to my 8 y/o about periods :faint:. And then that morphed into what she's asking Santa to bring her. There is just something so wrong about that! :scared1: Mama needs a glass of wine now...

Growing up as we did in the "sexually aware" post 60s, I expected this talk to be a lot easier than it turned out to be. With no man in the picture, I was the one who had "the talk" with my son, and he was so embarrassed and mortified by it all, that in the end I just left him a couple of books to read :lmao: :lmao: I rpobably left him scarred for life. Good times.

I posted a new update ... our culinary demo with the chef from Raglan Road. It was amazing!

Heading over to read it right now. Did you get any recipes you can share? I know, I know, I'm a maniac about collecting Disney recipes :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I liked the 3D effects in Christmas Carol but found the many faces of Jim Carrey very distracting. I just don't like that guy for some reason.

I don't like Jim Carey either, but found that I completely forgot it was him as I watched the movie.

Kind of like my feelings about Johnny Depp. (Now, don't all of you yell at me!) There is something about him I just don't like but I can admire his acting talents and forget it is him in the role.

Yeah, we have a theater that seats six. It's a cool feature to have for sure.
Here are some pics I took when we first moved in since that was the only room in the house that had furniture.:rotfl: I took these with my phone btw...

Zumba is an exercise class where you dance like a mad fool. It's fun actually. Speaking of, I need to get ready to go to Zumba!

Kind of like my feelings about Johnny Depp. (Now, don't all of you yell at me!) There is something about him I just don't like but I can admire his acting talents and forget it is him in the role.

:sad2: WTH is wrong with you?
He is the Sexiest Man Alive.:cloud9:

:woohoo: 9 nights! Awesome :dance3:

Yeah, you could say we enjoyed it. I was pretty much inebriated before AND after dinner because of this place.

I do hope that what happened in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas cuz this sounds like a good story :rotfl2:

We're going to a French Wine Dinner tomorrow night with some friends. Friday is going to be a verrrry long day but it will be worth it. :rotfl2:

I can't wait until the kids are out of the house and Jon & I have the time & money to do dinners like that :goodvibes

Sorry you're still feeling kinda crummy  As to keeping the thread alive :woohoo: I think we all should celebrate with a drink :drinking:

What a magical sounding birthday. I'm sure your DD will remember it forever. It was also amazing to see that you can still swim in the ocean at Hilton Head - I thought it would too cold in November.

only my husband, son & DD's crazy friend were nuts enough to go in the ocean :rolleyes1 I made it in to my ankle and came right back out

Not yelling, just confused :confused3 I've loved Johnny since 21 Jumpstreet

Hey y'all, Sorry I am so far behind on here. I've been trying to get the house ready for Turkey Day. I hate de-cluttering so much, that I started cooking & freezing instead of cleaning! I got as far as washing the tablecloths & napkins, dusting the tables & putting out the tablecloths. That's it!

Bendy, I'm sure you are wising for Friday to just hurry up! French wine dinner sounds fantastic! I hope you feel welll enough to really enjoy it.

Briarmom, I'm seriously jealous over that theater!!! I'd also love to try zumba, I'm hoping after my physical therapy for my disc surgery, I can give it a shot. My DD is in the process of purchasing a fitness club, they have zumba & yoga classes.

Elin, My 1st reaction to your Johnny comment was...

WTH is wrong with you woman?!!! :lmao: Upon deep consideration, I do realize he is just super hot looking! I don't like his interviews, he is just a bit too strange. I do LOVE his acting & I just can't help myself, he is seeexxyy!

I just got back from my second Zumba class of the day, and I really want food.:rotfl2:

Ooh, I love Zumba classes....when I take one I can almost forget that I am a short, pale white chick with no rhythm instead of a tall, latin goddess who can salsa circles around everyone else....but then I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and am brought down to earth very abruptly. ;)

We're going to a French Wine Dinner tomorrow night with some friends. Friday is going to be a verrrry long day but it will be worth it. :rotfl2:

Sounds yummy! And isn't every Friday a very long day, or is that just me?:rotfl:

But the important thing that you didn't spill any liquor!:lmao:

Read the review....it sounded great, although I was sad to see that the spaetzle wasn't very good....I love spaetzle, and gruyere is one of my favorite cheeses.

Yea for the third thread....although I think that probably just means that we all like to talk a lot!

Elin, I got your back when it comes to Johnny boy....I just don't get his appeal either. To me he always looks like he needs a shower and a shave!:lmao:

That is a very cool theater room! :thumbsup2

Zumba sounds like fun, but then I remember it's exercise

Has anyone else checked their liquor cabinet before the holidays and realized that all of their favorites are gone  I'm out of Bailey's, Vanilla Vodka, and almost out of Kahlua, Amaretto, rum, spiced rum and tequilla :scared1: That's gonna be an expensive trip to the ABC store :scared:

Thanks! We really enjoy it!

Zumba is fun. The night class teacher has been doing it longer and you really get your butt kicked so I enjoy it more. I really need the exercise. I'm so damn tired of being fat.:headache:

Good idea on the booze check! I'll get a list together!

I got your back, girl, when it comes to Johnny! Although most of his characters are odd to distraction (Edward Scissorhands, Willie Wonka), when he's a pirate--oh, when he's a pirate! ;) I think it must be the eyeliner...

(and no, eyeliner does not do it for me on just any guy...we put it on dh last year when he dressed up as a pirate for Halloween, and he looked just like his sister!)

I ate there in March and it was really good. The menu's quite extensive.

We didn't eat last week, just drank (try the Chernobyl)

I have the pictures done but I am not sure how to do a joint review.
