High School:blush:

I've said it before and I'll say it again- My husband is a gastronomical wet blanket.

You are smack dab between my two DDs then! One graduated from HS in '96 and one in '04.

Just remember, he is your wet blanket!

Happy Birthday, Jamie!

:bday: :cake: :bday: :cake:

I celebrated by having some new cheese that I bought yesterday.

Cypress Grove's Truffle Tremor (definitely not for Brenda) rocks.
It's a goat cheese with a lot of mushroom flavor.

Cowgirl Creamery's Mt. Tam Triple Cream.
Yum. It's like eating butter.

I do love my wet blanket, that is true.:lovestruc He's actually pretty good about food things with me. Like if I cook something he'll say "I can tell this is wonderfully made, but for me I don't like it". So he has the tact thing down. now he does anyways And if I want fancy food I go out with my brother.

Hey Cathy ... are you going to come back from your F&W trip and share the food porn and loving details with us? :goodvibes

Absolutely! I didn't book any of the Food and Wine Specialty dinners, but I did book the Abita Beer talk. Besides the F&WF I've booked Flying Fish, Kozunna, 50's PT (Chris has never eaten there), Kona (Breakfst), Raglan Road and Tusker House (Breakfst). All of them are new for us so we can't wait!
12 more days to go
Cathy

Wow, that's one big mound 'o potatoes with the ribeye! Was the ginger too obvious? Everything looked wonderful! You know if Kona would just add some bread pudding to it's dessert menu, I wouldn't even stress to get an 'Ohana adr this trip.

It was a big mound of potatoes :rotfl: and the ginger was not obvious at all. I was surprised Rick went for it with the teryaki steak was available. I like ginger as long as it isn't to strong and I could just taste a hint of it.

Depending on what food it is, that could work.

:lmao: Oops :lmao:

At least he tries and you've got him enjoying some wine now!

The triple cream sounds yummy and I'd pass on the goat too, a big ol yuck to mushrooms!!!!!

I hope Mt. Tam isn't in the Cowgirl grab bag I get for October now...since Lori's already had it. Maybe I will make my own grab bag and substutute Red Hawk. (There is a Cowgirl Creamery outlet in DC a couple blocks from my office and they sell cheese grab bags. Hey maybe a second cheese grab bag for the party)

I have a couple bottles of Kennebuckport Pumpkin Ale from TJ's. Not the greatest pumpkin ale but it works watching football...'tis the season. It's sitting in the freezer till halftime.

Jamie, Happy Birthday from me as well!! :goodvibes I am sure that you look much younger than your age!! :thumbsup2

Online ADRs still available at 3 am Eastern. I guess it's safe to assume that this is going to continue. I will keep watching it and will post if it stops becoming available at 3am. But I guess there is no sense in stating the obvious every day... :goodvibes

And to add a fun fact (inspired by today's D23 Expo events): did you realize that next year's Disney feature has a culinary title? Rapunzel is a German fairy tale and the girl's name Rapunzel is actually a German word for lamb's lettuce. ;) Her mother really wanted to eat lamb's lettuce during her pregnancy and her father got caught stealing it from the bad witch. That way the girl ended up with such a strange name! :goodvibes

A slight bit of food porn...

For some reason I am very much into beer right now and wine has taken a back seat. One of my favorite breweries is Southern Tier in New York and in the past couple of weeks I have thoroughly enjoyed their

Both are full-bodied and the creme brulee is dessert in a bottle! I was also served a tasting of the Creme Brulee mixed with their Cherry Saison (which I don't like on its own) and it tasted like a Tootsie Roll. Our Capital Ale House has been very adventurous lately! :thumbsup2

Last night, Kristin's best friend gave me a bottle from the Founder's Brewing Company in Michigan. She knew that I like their

It was BIG. It is a double chocolate, coffee, oatmeal stout. I felt like I could chew it. It is not something I would pick every day but I did enjoy it.

Mmmmm...beer.....

Back with some more food porn.

After a day at the Space Center, Ron Jon's Surf Shop and Cocoa Beach we went to DTD for some shopping and dinner. We decided to try T-Rex and sat at the very cool Shark Bar.

I had a blue margarita YUM!

Rick had the Mega Mes-O-Bones and I had the Boneyard Buffet. The ribs were excellent and the chicken was good! We had a great bartender and made friends with others at the bar. It was a good time :thumbsup2

Next night we had dinner at Kona. It's been years since I ate there for dinner and we had a very nice meal with good service. Once again we couldn't do dessert :sad2:

Started with bread, I really like the macademia butter.

We had the sticky wings for an appetizer. They were really good, I think Rick had about 8 of them :lmao:

Rick had the ginger crusted ribeye which he enjoyed.

I had the teryaki strip steak, I thought it was to come with mashed potato but it had rice. The rice was good but Rick's potatoes were much better. I started to cut into the steak before taking a picture :scared1:

I also had another blue margarita.

We enjoyed our dinner at Kona and made it back to BLT in time to pour a drink and head up to Top of the World lounge for Wishes.

Our last dinner was at Wolfgang Puck Express. Old faithful, the rosemary chicken with garlic mashed potato. This is the one meal I've eaten at Disney more times than any other since we seem to go there every trip for a quick meal. I had a glass of chardonney, it was okay, nothing to write about!

A nice weekend of eating at Disney! We used the DDE (I hate calling it Tables in Wonderland :sad2: ) and saved a good amount of money. It was well worth the cost of the card, I got 3 trips on this card!

Yummy food porn! I love both Kona and WPE!

Well, I just looked at the pictures posted on Facebook of dh's high school class reunion last week (my class was invited, too, but he just went to the get together after the football game). All I can say is DO I LOOK THAT OLD, TOO????? I didn't even recognize most of these people and I went to school with them for 6-12 years!! Man, I hate getting older.

By the way, today is my 42nd birthday. Think that has anything to do with it?! :rotfl2:

Happy birthday, Jamie!!!:banana::banana:

Will it make you feel better if I confess that until your post, I wasn't even aware that "FB" was referring to Facebook? See, you are young and hip and have a Facebook page.....I am crochety and old and refuse to even get one!:rotfl:

By the way, I have read in several dining reports lately that people dining at Kona have beeb able to order the O'hana bread pudding there. It's not on the menu, but you can special request it.

Just got back from brunch! What can I say... I have a nightowl for a daughter. :rotfl:

We went to Capital Ale House because we can eat at their great bar (poured concrete with an ice trough/strip on the back quarter)

57377.jpg

We had "The Bavarian" which included Eggs your way with Weisswurst, Havarti Cheese, asparagus and warm German potato salad. Quite yummy and my Rogue Hazlenut Brown was a nice beverage of choice. Kristin chose a Lambosa to drink: Frambois Belgian fruit lambic beer with champagne! Again, a good choice.

Sorry there isn't a photo. :( too dark at the bar.

Goodness, that would be hard see posts right now. Sending hugs your way.

Michelle, first off, I'm so sorry you had to cancel your cruise! I just wouldn't even look at Facebook this week, but that's me. You don't have to be happy for them yet, this will come after many pints of Ben and Jerry's. ;)

And thank you so much for posting this link. I read trip reports all the time, but I hadn't seen this one at all. I was getting on here to gripe about Disney's dining page being down, worried would it work Wed., blah, blah, blah. This really puts all that in perspective. Thanks, Michelle! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone for all the :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: - yesterday at sail away time I just had to walk away from the computer... and some are posting on FB from the cruise... so I hope it will get better as the week goes on...

& thank GOD B&J is on sale this week!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Michelle,

Thank you for posting the link to this story. What a wonderful story.

I thought we could use something warm and fuzzy... and not Planky... :lmao:

Ok... Why do some of these sound like they would go good over vanilla ice cream? maybe with some heath bar crunch?

Thanks for all the well wishes, I'm keeping my food iced and elevated. I'm off to the Big E next weekend (Eastern States Exposition, basically the state fair for all of New England) and I'll be doing lots of walking.

Kathy I'm so sorry

Michelle thats got to be so hard

She's got food on the brain... :rotfl: - ice that food... you'll feel better...

(and thanks for the hugs...)

:scared1: Your hubby doesn't drink beer??? That is so against the stereotype I don't even know what to think. Tell me more 'cuz I'm intrigued, especially since he's originally from this area. I thought everyone born in Missouri had beer flowing through their veins along with the blood.

He must be missing that gene or something...

NO... you are NOT that old... nor do you look it...

I went to my 20th way back when... I graduated in '82...

All I can say is most of the women looked pretty good... the men.... I tried to win the "I still look like I did in high school" contest, but that went to Therese McVeigh cause she looked EXACTLY like her high school picture - even after having TWINS the month before... :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I'm still getting used to seeing them on FB... but it has helped for me to realize that I'm as old as they are...

OHHHH and some of my classmates are GRANDPARENTS!!!!! :upsidedow :upsidedow

:cheer2:Happy Birthday:cheer2:

Also, I only graduated in 2000 and when I look at people on facebook I can't recognize 1/3 of my graduating class and even my former BFFs all look different to me. It could also be because I've blocked most of those years from my mind by now.

You know the strange thing is people are finally getting to know me - I guess I was very shy back then... :rolleyes1

Bendy's a happy girl ... all the nametags are done for the meet and all the gifties are wrapped. The only thing left to do is to finish filling the treasure chest of booze and packing it all up for next month.

BTW ladies ... once you unwrap your giftie of choice if you find orange hair it's from Pete. He insisted on helping me this afternoon ... hopefully the teeth marks are minimal. :rotfl2:

I officially start my new job tomorrow. The best part is instead of driving an hour to get to work it will be 10 minutes!:cool1:
