Is this news to you all or is it new to me since I was away??

Starting October 27, 2009, Walt Disney World will move the booking window for Advanced Dining Reservations to 180 days, from the current 90 days. Walt Disney World resort guests will be able to book all dining reservations 180 days in advance of the day they check in, up to 10 days at a time. Non-Disney World Resort guest can make dining reservations 180 days in advance of their dining date.

Currently, some popular restaurants such as Le Cellier and Cinderella’s Royal Table are nearly impossible to find, even calling first thing 90 days in advance. This move should allow those who plan well in advance plenty of opportunity to book the reservations they want.

Starting on October 27, 2009, guests will be able to book dining reservations up until April 25, 2010.

Rumor is that at the time of the change, all dining reservations will require a credit card guarantee. No official announcement has been made, I will update this post if/when that change is announced.

I've seen some rumors to this effect floating around but haven't known whether or not to lend it much credence. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens ... like everything else. :goodvibes

I saw this on the boards yesterday but since the person I saw post it didn't cite their source, so I didn't pay too much attention. I figured if its true I'll see some official announcement somewhere.

I haven't heard anything like that, but I haven't really been keeping up with Disney news all that well. Personally, I wish they'd stick with 180 or 90 and not change it every few months. I will be glad if they establish a credit card guarantee on all ADR's though, I think that'll help with double bookings.

I didn't get it from the DIS... another source, but not one I know well. I guess we will see!

Review of Freiberg Restaurant

So yesterday we decided to broaden our dining experiences here in East TN, and try something new. This little restaurant has been open for a few months and seemed intriguing, we just hadn't made the commitment to go yet. It is in one of the older buildings downtown from the early part of the 20th century and is quite tiny. Seats about 50 patrons, counting the upstairs and still has the exposed brick walls, tall windows, and dark wooden tables and chairs. I loved the atmosphere and we were even treated to a really good band playing upstairs (not German music in the least, though. A little Van Morrison, lite Guns N Roses, Pink Floyd, Beatles, etc. went quite well with schnitzel. Who knew?)

Tonight it was me, DH, DD and my mom's youngest sister, Aunt P. My aunt's MIL was German, so I thought she might enjoy trying this place with us. There are no pictures, mainly because the place was so little, and the table so little, I would have had to scoot my (tall) stool away from the table just to get the whole plate in the shot.

Anyway, on the the good stuff!

To drink, dd and I had water, my aunt ordered sweet tea and DH tried the house draft Klein. This was described by our waitress as a light pilsner. It was a little heavier in color, more of a golden than pale yellow and had a very nice smooth flavor, but a bit of bitterness in the middle. It then finished smoothly. Different enough for dh to enjoy (and me to sneak a few sips!), but too different for him to order a second. For that he chose a Bud Light draft .

We started out with Kartoffelhaut aus Sachsen for an appetizer. This was described as large potato skins filled with cream cheese spinach dip, smothered in Swiss cheese and baked to a golden brown". Are you drooling yet? We were when we tasted this wonderful creation! I never thought of adding cream cheese to stuffed potatoes
but it blended so well with the Parmesan in the spinach dip. Definitely cheese overload, so it was good that there was only one each for us.

With this we were served a basket of soft homemade bread with butter and onion butter, which I had never seen. It was full of tiny green onions, chopped finely and not to be confused with chives. This was definitely very onion-y and I left it for DH, who gobbled it up.

(Regretfully, at this time I must leave you salivating for more because we are going to MIL's for lunch and I am being summoned to the car. I thought I could get this finished, but it will have to wait till this evening. Sorry, Friendies! :flower3:)

Terrific start, Jamie! I don't care for much German food, but what you've described so far sounds pretty good. Sorry to hear your hubby downgraded his taste buds to Inbev Light ... GACK!!! :lmao:

Jay let me pick up a cute little black coach wristlet that I can use for evenings out, so I can finally dump that servicable but falling apart and downright clunky little black purse that I've been using for the past eight years. :thumbsup2

Mama's got a brand new bag! :teeth:

James Brown! :worship:

Why do I have a feeling she was skipping out of the store humming that? :flower3:

Rose' d'Anjou, Sauvion

I already told Jay one of the first stops we're making once we get settled in is to the wine shop in France so I can nab a bottle or two. :rotfl2: If I remember correctly it wasn't too badly priced ... maybe $15 per bottle.

I'm glad we tried something new last night, but I think just because of my personal wine preferences, I'm going to stay away from wines in the future that are pink.

Especially cold duck... :thumbsup2

I think now that they have the new system up and running... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: they will go back... I think the credit card is to keep people from overbooking...

Sure...leave me hanging with bread and butter... :sad2::sad2::sad2: thank God I'm a carbs addict...

We still have half a bottle of that wine from last night in the refrigerator ... Jay said he'll just use it for marinades. To make up for the general cussedness of that wine I just placed a bottle of Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio in the fridge for us to enjoy later this evening when Jay is finished working. I know we'll like this one! :thumbsup2

Now that I've seen the probable breakfast menu for Kouzzina I talked it over with Jay and we just switched the 10/18 ADR we had for The Wave over to Kouzzina. This will be a lot better since we can just walk there from the BCV.

Very happy so far with the way our dining marathon is laid out ... can't want to have it finalized after Tuesday morning. I think I'm also getting very close to starting a pre-dining TR ... just struggling with finding the right title. It's gotta be a good one since this will likely be our Disney Dining Swan Song for a while. I guess I'm going to have to pass off the Queen of Food Porn title to someone else after this. :rotfl2:

Don't look at me... I only take pictures of little green furry things... (which could be some of the stuff in the back of my fridge right about now...):rolleyes1

Me too! I have a Pinot Grigio chilling too. It is up to 95 here and our AC is having a rough time keeping up. I need something cool and refreshing!

That's what I was thinking! :thumbsup2 The heat has come back to Stinktown with a vengeance this weekend ... heat advisories and all. :headache:

Did you do that online or is it still only available on the phones?

I haven't thought of a PTR title either... last year we set out to try 35 new things in honor of our 35th anniversary celebration (albeit delayed!) and now I am struggling to be creative with this one.

& speaking of the little guy...

Bendy...

I just want you to know... that Planky is VERY picky about product placement and endorsements... but he made an exception for you...

(he also wants you to know... the check is in the mail... ;))

Unfortunately for Kouzzina you have to call, but I wasn't on the phone more than 5-10 minutes.

Sometimes with the TR titles the harder you think the harder it is to come up with something...at least that's how I am. I've been trying not to think about it much at all but that's not helping either! :rotfl2:
