Feel better

Not caught up, and it doesn't look like I'll be drinking with ya tonight. MIL is in the ER again and I'm not sure if we're gonna have to go down there or not :sad2:

sorry to hear that...

Bring it with you?? :confused3

Too bad, Chelle. I hope everything is OK with your MIL.

I am already disappointed in our wine despite it's 88 rating.

stop suckin on the cork!!!

I wish it were that simple! :lmao:

I fell in love with that Rose in Epcot last year after being terrified that it was going to taste like white zinfandel. So of course the Rose we're trying tonight smells like chardonnay and tastes exactly like a zinfandel, which I do not like in the least.

It might be good with cheese but I'm not hungry enough to eat any cheese ... stunning though that admission may be to everyone here. :lmao:

Just catching up on all that I missed in the last 2 days....y'all move fast!

Shovan..... I hope you enjoyed the movie....I dying to see it but I'm going with a friend, and between her schedule and mine we are all booked up until the end of the month. THe dinner at Emeril's sounds awesome....take some pics for us!

Blissventure.....happy belated birthday! And congrats to both you, Kathy and Lori on your combined weight losses! I lost 25 lbs about 6 years ago, and know how hard it can be, and how great you feel afterwards.

disneyfav4ever....I had the same reaction to turning 25....it completely freaked me out. But neither 30 or 35 fazed me....and I seem to not care about 40 either (although I do still have a few more years to get there, so that may change!)

Lori, I hope you are doing well, and keeping comforted with the memories you have of your time with your Nana.

Kathy, I hope you feel better soon, and CHelle, I hope everything is okay with your MIL.

My wine tonight is a Beaulieu Vineyards Coastal Estates 2007 California Riesling....chilled and ready to go. But I also went to a wine tasting earlier today at our local Winestyles store, so I have some others to comment on tonight as well.

sorry to hear that...

Bring it with you?? :confused3
I was looking forward to drinking tonight, but if I have to go to the hospital I probably should (EDIT, guess it was subliminal, meant to say shouldn't) drink before hand......afterwards will be a requirement

She's in the ER and they've done the CT scan, waiting to hear results. She has a history of perforated bowel issues, so now we wait and see.

Sorry you're not happy with your wine :sad2: I'm really not a big wine drinker, I prefer hard liquor ;)

OK ... here's the label and other such info about my wine tonight:

Reserve Grand Veneur, Cotes du Rhone, 2008.

According to the back label, the vineyards are located on terraced and pebbled slopes, 25 kilometers north of Avignon in Southern France. This particular wine is a blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 20% Cinsault.

It says that the nose reminds one of fresh fruit ... I've never smelled fruit that reeks of vinegar ... strawberries and watermelon ... I hate watermelon; I really need to start reading the labels before purchasing!

Served cold, it supposedly goes best with light summer meals, salads, and grilled meats.

All I know right now is that it goes best chased with cold water. :rotfl2:

Hate to interrupt but wanted to tell Chelle I'm keeping MIL in my prayers, now back to your regularly scheduled booze chat........

Brenda, I'm not that thrilled with my wine tonight either. I normally love Rieslings, but this one is a lot drier than most, and has a strong bite at the end. It's okay, but it's not something I will be buying again.

I also tried the following earlier today:

Graton Cellars Sauvignon Blanc, California......this was altogether forgettable. It didn't have any distinct flavors, and not much body.

Randall Monroe Chardonnay, California.....this had some nice topnotes....but had a very oaky finish, which turned me off.

Townshend Pink Table Wine, Washington.....I actually really liked this one. I haven't had many Washington wines, and was afraid that this would be like a zinfandel, but it was just a nice light dessert wine. Very fruity and floral at the same time.

Foxtail Red, California......I'm not a huge red wine fan, so I'm a bit prejuidiced, but I really didn't care for this one at all. Not only was it a very dry red, it had a big oaky finish.

Hurrah Surrah Syrah, California.....again, not a huge fan of reds, but this was nice. Very fruity as it had some cabernet in it.

I also have a public service announcement about a beer that my husband tried today.....I forget who made it, but it was called Flying Dog-in-heat Wheat. Avoid this beer at all costs! I took the first sip, and thought to myself.....this tastes like vomit! I assumed that it was the mix of the syrah which I had just finished mixed with the beer. I didn't tell Mike what I thought it tasted like, but I warned him that he should clear his palate with some water before taking a sip. So imagine my surprise when he tookd his first sip, and promptly announced...."This tastes like vomit":lmao: I think that was probably the first bottle of beer that we have ever thrown out nearly full!

Heather, your wine tastes sound similar to mine. :thumbsup2

As for the beer ... I love the name but appreciate the warning especially. Jay just asked me if they brew it with Bertie Botts Beans? Perhaps someone dropped a vomit flavored one in when no one was looking? :rotfl2:

We put our name on the waiting list for a bottle of Sam Adams Utopias today when we were buying wine and cheese. Can't wait to get our hands on that baby!

Ironically enough, I put a bag of Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans in Mike's stocking every year at Christmas, and while he has tasted dirt, earwax and booger, he has yet to get a vomit one!:rotfl2:

That's funny!

I just tried some of my favorite runny French cheese with this wine ... it's a little better with food, but not much. Note to self ... next time buy a Pinot Grigio and call it a day. :lmao:

Ugh! I hope things turn out okay with your MIL. Spending a night in the ER is no fun for her or you.

Hey..isn't that Chocolate frosting???

speaking of frosting... I think there's an unopened can of Dunkin Hines - chocolate fudge... that'll do...

I'm late! But I am here. :) Traffic on the beltway and I-95 were brutal so I took a detour that took me over by Catherine's pied a terre, I do believe!

What am I drinking right now? Naiara Malbec Reserva 2006 (between $10-13)

Jammy, buttery, soft tannins. Goes great with my Arby's roast beef sandwich too. ;)
