Bendy & Her Friendies V2 ... This Bar Never Closes! New Thread Started!

In our travels through Western Virginia today we saw many cows and all I could say each time we passed yet another herd grazing was, "that's my filet mignon" "oh look at that cute chateaubriand" "in two years that little one will make some fine steaks" It bordered on sick. Of course the three of us were all laughing our butts off because we all share a hardcore love for beef.

My walking buddy's family are ranchers. She generally knows which steer is designated for their freezer about a year in advance. She married into the family...and she's tenderhearted. But, she admits, the beef is really good.

I expect I will plan and re-plan the Christmas trip at least 75 times before September 20. ;) The problem with 90+ 10 is that someone checking in on 12/17 will be able to make ADRs through our departure date of 12/27. We will see how it works out. There is one good part to all this, believe it or not... the food court at POFQ has some really good food! So, if we are unable to make an ADR for a TS place we can always head back there.

Also, I do believe that with the advent of online booking the possibility of booking more than one spot for the same time has been reduced a bit. I have been reading on the dining board that people are having both reservations canceled on them if they do it. Again, we will have to see what transpires!

Bob and I can "make do" at the beginning of the trip, if necessary but once the girls arrive there had better be places to eat! ;) We want to take them to Raglan Road (maybe Christmas night!) and Boma for our Christmas morning breakfast tradition.

And then there is our V&A porn-collecting trek. They are all going to kill me when I pull out my camera. :rotfl: Maybe I will use my cell phone instead. How dark is it in the main dining room?

Today is our 36th anniversary! We were in the midst of the ceremony right this very minute.

I was planning to grill out tonight but it is H O T as Hades out there already. The heat index is supposed to go close to 100 again so I am not certain I want to do that. I have so many gift cards from students I may just choose a restaurant for us to go to. And I will enjoy watching myBob wonder why we are going out to dinner. He never said a word to me this morning nor have I gotten a phone call or email wishing me a Happy Anniversary, Darling. :rotfl2:

Just a little reminiscing here...

Hi all...well, yesterday Emma and I ended up coming down with the stomach bug that Nathan had on Saturday. Fun times! So I'm just catching up on everything since Sunday night.

Brenda, the food porn looked great, and I hope you have/had a great time at the game! I think I am going to have to try making those frozen strawberry lemonade drinks once my stomach is back up to it...

Gina, your ADR's look great!

Allison, I hope you are enjoying Biltmore!

Elin, congrats....36 years is quite an accomplishment! And what lovely photos!

oybolshoi - Awesome steaks! Is the Smokehouse Market the one connected to Annie Gunn's? If so, I'm sure you paid an arm and a leg for them, but they look SO WORTH IT!

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Brenda!! Everything looks great..and Greg is going to be thrilled that you have motivated me to break out our ice cream machine..also cuisanart..never used!! i think that will be a friday night treat...maybe i should make it thursday night though? i will check the instructions!!
Elin..HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Congrats on your anniversary! 36 years is mighty impressive.:goodvibes

Heather - no more sickies at your house!

No offense to anyone using free dining, but I'd really hoped they weren't going to extend it this year through October ... it made things so crowded last Fall and honestly, one of the reasons we like visiting in the Fall (apart from the festival) is that the parks aren't nearly as crowded as they are during the summer and the holidays. Oh well ... at least we have our ADRs, but I fear for Guest X and Guest Y who disdain our well-meaning, non-starvation WDW advice.

The Holiday Free Dining offer has me a tad worried too, Brenda. It is always difficult to get ADRs at that time of year anyway. Now, the pickins are probably going to be even slimmer. I need to plan very carefully so that on my 90+10 day I know exactly what I need to get first! I am hoping that I can get everything done in 45 minutes or so and then can start to call Dining to book V&A's right at 7:00. Luckily September 20th is a Sunday!

I'm not thrilled with it either, wasn't anticipating large crowds. Luckily we got all of our ADR's with no problems.:goodvibes

Congratulations Elin!!!!!!! Your Bob sounds like my Johnny's twin, totally clueless when it comes to dates.....:rotfl:

Oh no, hopefully everyone is feeling better.

Yes ma'am ... the Smokehouse Market at Annie Gunn's ... we don't buy meat there very often because it is pricey, but then again ... you get what you pay for. They have the best steaks ... and beef tenderloin ... and sushi grade tuna ... I'm drooling on myself. :rotfl2:

Gina ... make your ice cream or sorbet mixture 24 hours before you're going to use the machine. Chill the mix in the refrigerator so that it's nice and cold - this also gives your machine time to get good and frozen. Then the next day make your frozen goods - it will make a huge difference in the texture and taste of your dessert (we learned the hard way).

I'm not thrilled with it either, wasn't anticipating large crowds. Luckily we got all of our ADR's with no problems.:goodvibes

I've been checking things randomly online because we still have a couple of times that I want to tweak and I'm not noticing anything that's too hard to get right now. It will be interesting to see what happens as we get a little closer to departure time.

Regardless of the crowds we are all going to have a terrific time ... I insist!!

CONGRATS on 36 years, Elin & Bob!!!! :lovestruc:lovestruc

Heather, hope everyone at your house starts to feel better soon.

It's storming here in Stinktown ... it just figures, doesn't it? :rotfl2: Do you guys wanna place bets as to whether or not the game is going to be a rainout?

Allison - I think the ice cream machine is something Drew needs for his education. Do you think it could be written off?

Oh the sacrifices I'm making for my kid's education. :rotfl: Now if I could write off said sacrifices that would be a dream. Do you think the IRS would understand my warped thinking on the matter? :rotfl2:

My walking buddy's family are ranchers. She generally knows which steer is designated for their freezer about a year in advance. She married into the family...and she's tenderhearted. But, she admits, the beef is really good.

I give your friend a lot of credit...from a distance I can joke about old Bessie being my next meal, but if I had a hand in raising my cow...I think I'd turn veg. I'd become too attached to my beef to eat it.

I hope the rain passes and you get to enjoy the game.

Bendy - As long as the stinking crowds don't get in the way of me and my booze, I'll be fine...;) I'm praying the rain stops and the game is on...play ball!

I am so exhausted right now, I just ran a mile, which isn't that much, but it's so hot right now, and I'm just about ready to pass out.

Once I regain conciousness, I plan to make the following for dinner; steak topped with boursin, (Brenda had to give me the idea last night I spent a small fortune on goat cheese this afternoon,) pasta with creamy pesto sauce, and a tomato and goat cheese salad.

I'm also going to bake something. I'm debating between butterscotch pudding cake and peanut butter-chocolate bars. Probably the cake since that sounds easier to make and I'll be lazy after cooking dinner.
