Bendy & Her Friendies V2 ... This Bar Never Closes! New Thread Started!

Well, Flying Fish is back on our list for October. We talked about the fact that we weren't doing anything "special" this year as far as F&W so we both agreed we could splurge on another dinner. I had no trouble at all finding a spot to put it into and had no trouble at all booking online just now. ;)

some Disneyland food porn:
....
Chicken quesadilla with guac from the lounge
CIMG0537.jpg

......

I always get this quesadilla at lunch at the StoryTellers cafe.:lovestruc The great thing about eating there is at 11:30 they completely empty out from their character breakfast and I almost literally have the place to myself. Everyone else is still in the themeparks at noon.

And that Napa Rose food looks wonderful. I love it there, but have yet to drag the Spouse out, I usually go with my brother who likes to dine and wine as much as I do.

mmm Napa Rose food...how i miss thee!! Great pics :)
Exciting for all of you booking your F&W events..thats great!!

I am a bit sad today friendies, ok..more than a bit..i have been crying intermittantly throughout the day because i just heard that my family cat ( 14yrs +) is very sick and is probably not going to be around much longer. Mind you, she lives with my parents, but i was the one that brought her home when i was 18 years old..when i moved out my parents made her stay there ;)...she has had a great life, and i kind of knew something was wrong with her, she got so darn skinny so fast..but its still hard. ..i am hoping to get over there after work today to say goodbye..unless a miracle happens of course..ughhh...i think i will be having a bit of scotch tonight..or maybe some wine...sigh..the ups and downs of owning a pet. :sad1:

I am so sorry for your kitty:hug:

Congrats to Bendy & Chelle on the weight loss!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I've been having a hard week and it's going to get even harder. My only child, DS 19, is leaving the nest going away to college. I've been "Kyle's Mom" for 19 years and I'm not sure who or what I'll be after he leaves. He's not going far away but it still hurts. I'm so sorry for babbling my depressing stuff here.:sad1:

I can't talk from the parenting end, but after I went away to college my Mom and I got closer. I have a better relationship with my Mom now that I'm an adult than I did when I was younger. And that's not because I was a brat or troublemaker either (me silently reading my Douglas Adams, what a terror:rolleyes:), my Mom was (admittedly on her part) crazy when she was raising us. Once we got her out of NJ she normaled out. :rotfl: The person who took it hardest when I went out into the real world? My stepdad, lol. I'm more like him than anyone I'm related to by blood.

These 4 years will be tough, but I love having an adult relationship/friendship with my parents and you'll get that too.:flower3:

Also- kudos to everyone on the weight loss!:cool1: I need to drop about 5lbs and it just isn't coming off.:headache:

Thanks to all of you for the kind words of support. It means the world to me knowing that I have y'all as my friendies.:grouphug:

Jamie- Great DL review start, Cant wait to read more. :cool1:

Thanks for reading, Bridget! I actually just got another small update out tonight.

Brenda, loved your DQ story! What I want to know is how come you manage to lose 5 lbs. and still eat brownie boats?????? No fair!

MA piglet, for you about your kitty. We are cat people, too. It almost killed us when we lost our 19 y/o kitty several years ago. They're just like little people.

Congrats to Bendy & Chelle on the weight loss!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Hey TigerKat, sending you hugs! You'll still be mom, you'll still be very much needed. My experience was the relationship changes a little, but it's not in a bad way. They are feeling some butterflies as they approach this new life experience just as we do. One things we did (and still do) as our son left for college was make sure we had one day when he'd know to call us. Calls at other times were great, too, but it was so good to know that on Sunday afternoon around 4 we'd hear from our son. He still does this. He went to school in Wyoming, and it's not possible for us--due to weather--to visit as much as we'd like.
I tried pretty hard in the first year he was away from home to be an especially good listener. It made it possible for him to share the happy stuff and the challenges. You know, the laundry foibles, that sort of thing. It was great that we could laugh together.
Just know the Friendies are here, and we care. Wishing you (and your son) all the best as you head toward a new adventure in life. :flower3:

Bah! It figures ... I go back to work tomorrow and Roman Holiday is showing right now on TCM and then it's being followed by War and Peace. This always happens to me ... :rotfl2:

Oh well, it's not like I haven't seen them before but good movies are hard to come by and I am especially fond of Audrey Hepburn's work.

On a totally different movie topic, have any of you guys ever seen The Women? One of my all-times favs - very funny and full of a lot of uncomfortable truths about the female animal. ;)

Sounds like everyone got what they wanted for F&W :woohoo:

I finally finished packing and need to head off to bed now. Hope everyone has a great week and I'll catch up with you when I get back!

Robin, you ADR lineup sounds really interesting. I can't wait to hear about Paradiso 37 and your grand gathering dessert party. :thumbsup2

Your check arrived with no problemo ... glad to hear that the button arrived safely. :goodvibes

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I typed it out. It definitely is interesting but a lot of different people to please on this trip. I'm really looking forward to everything! And will let you know how Paradiso 37 and our grand gathering event are. We are thinking that the dessert portion of the event will be like the Wishes dessert party which is not a bad thing. No such thing as too much dessert!:woohoo:

We are spoiled with good Italian in NJ, aren't we? I haven't been to Mama Melrose either, but lately I've heard some pretty good reviews. I'll be interested to hear about your time at Paradiso 37 and Sanaa because those are both ones I want to try. I also want to hear your take on KTTK tour. We always mean to do it, but never get around to it. Have fun!:goodvibes

Thanks for the tip on Mama Melrose. I'm sure it will be fine and it's someplace new for me. Not sure how much food porn I will have (my friends are not very patient when it comes to this but I'll see what I can do) but I will let you know how Paradiso 37 and Sanaa are. I actually ate at Sanaa on opening day back in May and really enjoyed it. Hoping it's as good as I remember:thumbsup2

And I'll definitely let you know how KTTK tour is:goodvibes

Sending some hugs your way.

Friendies ... I've had a nap and I feel ever so much better now. I just wanted to thank you for your huggles and encouragement this morning. No one other than a bunch of food lovin' DISers would have understood just how frantic I was trying to get through to someone other than the sleestack agent. Even my darling Jay would not understand the way you guys do, because he doesn't do the planning.

So thank you very much for putting up with me today. :grouphug:

AND ... I've lost five pounds since seriously starting my workout / sort-of-healthier-diet program. I'm finally decreasing in mass!!! Here's hoping for another 10-15 pound weight loss by October 14th! :thumbsup2

Catharine, the food from Napa Rose looked incredible! My mouth was watering over that ahi tuna (drool smilie here) The desserts looked pretty darn good as well! :goodvibes

Bendy, congrats on the weight loss :woohoo: I'm yo-yo'ing right now, go on vacation the weight goes up, come home to work/job/money stress and weight goes up; oh wait that's not what a yo-yo does :rolleyes1

I've actually been good and started walking again this week and have dropped 5 pounds. For some reason it always comes & goes in 5lb increments :confused3

Congrats to Brenda and Chelle on the weight loss :banana:

I hear it makes a cute B&B... ;)

come on... post a picture... I want to see what a 12p looks like :banana::banana:

Yikes!!! I don't know how to make the picture smaller. I'm new to this posting stuff. It's been a crazy
journey the past 10 months. I just take it one day at a time, and try to have confidence I can keep the 48lbs off.
Anyway, here's the new, improved 50 year old me.
At this point in my life it's actually unbelievable to me that I have two kids that will be 27 and 25 this fall.
But, Tink rules, I promised I'd be brave and post a picture. Notice my button?

Great picture Gin and congrats on your weight loss - that's awesome!

And what a fabulous button!! :rotfl2:

EDITED: I was obviously in need of sleep last night because I just realized I confused Robin & Gin. Sorry ... my brain really doesn't work very well sometimes.

Ok... so who ordered this Kidney Stone???? :headache: :sad2: :headache: :sad2: :headache:

If it weren't for the Vicodin... this would be a crappy day... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So if I mis-read anything you guys wrote... I apologize in advance for my answers...

I've called in a temp to work for me... he's little green and furry, but he's very effective at hanging up on people I don't like... :lmao: :lmao:

Thanks honey!
First thing I'll say is you've been "Kat" much longer than you've been "Kyle's Mom", and we all know and love you as Kat  Mourn what you've lost (for a few minutes) and then celebrate the fact that you've done your job & done it well. :goodvibes

Maybe it's just because I'm mom to an almost 16 year old daughter, but I'm counting down until she leaves :rolleyes1 She's going through the "I want to hate & blame my mom for everything in the universe" stage :headache: so I could be a little biased right now.

Yay to Bendy and Chelle on their weight loss!:cheer2:

Thanks, it's not nearly enough but it's a start.

And finally, the MGM Grand has nice menus for all their restaurants. They expire Aug 30th, but I think they'll come up with something else for fall. They change the menus, but the overall offer has been going on for awhile. http://www.mgmgrand.com/restaurants/

Hang in there Kat! It will be hard at first, but remember that you have done a great job, and that this is his time to start to grow into adulthood. As others have said, you'll always be his mom.....and now you will have time to do all the stuff you've been putting off for 18 years!:goodvibes
