Ok, my friendies, I am here to shamelessly pimp out my trip report--it's in my signature and on the Disneyland Trip Report board. I got up the first installment and I might even work on another one tonight if I see that there's some interest! ;)

Thanks for the trail - I'm subscribed and you're linked on the first post of this thread. I can pimp no more than that! :rotfl2:

some Disneyland food porn:

Not food, but the undertaker band at the Haunted Mansion event - they were cute.

The food at the event was awful - Swedish meatball, mushroom caps stuffed with sausage (Jimmy Dean I think), bacon-wrapped sausage (more Jimmy Dean), deviled eggs and some sort of really awful mystery meat canape. The mini-desserts weren't bad though and the drinks were great - all the glow-martinis you could drink (same recipe without the glow), mixed to order.

All the food is from the Grand Californian, which had a disaster with their brick pizza oven the day I arrived, just like California Grill did awhile back. So no pizzas in the photos.

Cheese selection from the Hearthstone Lounge

Types of cheese are mysterious. There was some soft goat, some bleu cheese, a little brie and sage darby. Plus toast, preserves and dried fruit with nuts. but do not ask who produced the cheese. I just don't know.

Chicken quesadilla with guac from the lounge

Napa Rose Restaurant

Ahi tuna sashimi, pineapple salsa and habanero sauce

Squash blossoms stuffed with goat cheese

Tempura lobster and Asian beef salad

Fancy mac & cheese in copper pot

My friend's pheasant stew

Warm chocolate cake with raspberry and orange sauces, cinnamon ice cream and pulled sugar "fuse" (get some port with this!)

Smores turnover with handmade marshmallows and chocolate sauce

and I got a refill on my McMurray pinot noir by accident - the server ran out while pouring it and she said she would go get another bottle and wouldn't bat an eye if the stuff already in the glass was gone when she got back - (I left some in the glass but not much)

Catherine, this all looks so good!

mmm Napa Rose food...how i miss thee!! Great pics :)
Exciting for all of you booking your F&W events..thats great!!

I am a bit sad today friendies, ok..more than a bit..i have been crying intermittantly throughout the day because i just heard that my family cat ( 14yrs +) is very sick and is probably not going to be around much longer. Mind you, she lives with my parents, but i was the one that brought her home when i was 18 years old..when i moved out my parents made her stay there ;)...she has had a great life, and i kind of knew something was wrong with her, she got so darn skinny so fast..but its still hard. ..i am hoping to get over there after work today to say goodbye..unless a miracle happens of course..ughhh...i think i will be having a bit of scotch tonight..or maybe some wine...sigh..the ups and downs of owning a pet. :sad1:

Gina, I'm so sorry. Losing a pet, especially one that you've had that long, is just like losing a member of your family.

The first year we went to the PFTS we shared a table (didn't know better that year and seating seemed plentiful!) with a couple from the Orlando area. She was SLOSHED very quickly and had to take break in the loo to sober herself up. They brought a tote bag in with them and dumped food into it all night long. I mean DUMPED... there was no rhyme or reason to the dump, just turn that plate over and see where it falls. It was the oddest thing. The girls and I were talking about it for hours. How in the heck could you eat it the next day?? There were cheese, olives, meats, desserts... :scared:

Add to that the fact that directly within our line of sight behind SheWhoWasSoDrunk was a young lady with the most amazing thong on under her pants. It really didn't cover the subject and eventually her companion figured out what everyone was looking at. I mean everyone was stopping and staring! There was not enough wine in that room that night to get those two memories out of our heads! :rotfl2:

Wow....that is unbelievable!

Friendies ... I've had a nap and I feel ever so much better now. I just wanted to thank you for your huggles and encouragement this morning. No one other than a bunch of food lovin' DISers would have understood just how frantic I was trying to get through to someone other than the sleestack agent. Even my darling Jay would not understand the way you guys do, because he doesn't do the planning.

So thank you very much for putting up with me today. :grouphug:

AND ... I've lost five pounds since seriously starting my workout / sort-of-healthier-diet program. I'm finally decreasing in mass!!! Here's hoping for another 10-15 pound weight loss by October 14th! :thumbsup2

Hey, Chelle, I thought you might know this! We're going Dec. 15-22 and I received a 40% off code so both our rooms are booked under this. They did let me put my friends' reservation in their name with their own reservation #, and linked the ressies. We're not doing DDP this time or free DDP b/c I had to spend some reward dollars before they expired last Dec. so I bought two of our tickets. Is the free DDP just through the 17th like I thought? I'm just trying to crunch some numbers for my friend, b/c she is not detail oriented and is fine with my suggestions, so I need to make the right ones! They are picky, simple eaters and the places I think they'd like (Le Cellier, Tutto and buffets ) are gonna break the bank with two teenage boys.

The free dining does end the 17th, but if I put your dates in, it comes up with the Oct-Dec Magic Your Way rate. Quick look up for 2A, 2 teens with that rate and your looking at $2700-$4500 value to deluxe(Boardwalk, WL was $4100) including 8 day myw tickets. Where are you staying? That will make a big difference in whether the dining or 40% is better. Don't forget you'll also be there for the seasonal surcharges :headache:

feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. I'll be glad to look it up for you :goodvibes

and I'm very glad you got the trippie up. I'll be looking forward to my SunnyD ;)

Thank God for the 3 other kitties I have at our house and the dog..they will help me through

it is so fortunate that my PFTS only had Robert Irvine with his shirt off.

Catharine, the food from Napa Rose looked incredible! My mouth was watering over that ahi tuna (drool smilie here) The desserts looked pretty darn good as well! :goodvibes

Bendy, congrats on the weight loss :woohoo: I'm yo-yo'ing right now, go on vacation the weight goes up, come home to work/job/money stress and weight goes up; oh wait that's not what a yo-yo does :rolleyes1

I've actually been good and started walking again this week and have dropped 5 pounds. For some reason it always comes & goes in 5lb increments :confused3

Thanks, Chelle and congrats to you! I've had the same yo-yo problem this year ... but my yo-yo was broken and only spooled up! :rotfl2:

I've been doing about 3 miles a day walking and have been sneaking in some additional workouts ... mixing it up with Slim in 6, P90-X, some balance ball routines. I'm trying to keep me interested, know what I mean? And I've banned myself from going out to lunch at work ... that was a baaaad habit that I needed to break both for money and weight reasons.

I think because Todd doesn't have a Disney restaurant, and the event costs more, it may not be as popular. He also has that reputation for pushing the envelope. If you saw the items from last year's dinner, they're kinda "weird." (Flat scallop, anyone? Beet dippin' dots?) Really good, but weird. A lot of folks like to be more sedate even with their fine dining.
I read your review from last year, (I think it was your's,) and the "weirder" the menu is, the more likely I would be to book it. I think I'm in the minority that way though. Seriously, with me, the weirder and more interesting it sounds, the more likely I am to try it, like I always get the "feature flavors" of ice cream.

We are doing two wine view lounges! We are not the beautiful people but Jason was scared that I would see a wheel of Stilton or a wine I love I didn't have access to and jump the rope. He thought better to pay now or pay later! :rotfl2:
That's exactly why I ended up booking the Wine View Lounge too, I didn't want to get all jealous at the party!

some Disneyland food porn
That all looks so yummy.

I am bringing a big purse that night .. if I see a wheel of Humbolt Fog it might show at the meet after..:rotfl:
Oh Jason just saw that.. he told me to be good! DANG! Why start now?:confused!
If I were going the same night as you I'd be helping you swipe it. :lmao:

I am definitely not one of the beautiful people, but I'm lazy and want to have guaranteed seating. My feet are willing to pay an extra $75. Every year, no matter what shoes I wear, my feet are killing me by the end of the night. With guaranteed seating, I know that my feet will have a break. They've already thanked me.

ITA! I'll also admit, I just don't want to have to deal with fierce table savers. :rotfl:
Two other reasons I ended up booking, my feet get blisters way too easily, and table savers guard the tables like their lives depend on it. I'm all for first come first serve most of the time, but that's not what the tables are intended for at PFTS.

We also did the wine view for 10/17 - I just have a gut feeling that Disney will make it worth our money if they want to continue to do this as a new revenue producer in the future...or maybe they just do it best the first year and it all goes downhill from there like a lot of other F&W events have :rotfl2:
Interesting theory, and if the first year is the best, then I'm glad I booked it. :)

Last year we took out lots of chocolate truffles from PFTS but we were sitting next to the truffle ladies and they kept giving us more chocolate.
I know I filled my plastic cup they gave me for my wine up with truffles.

Darn, I really wanted to see you on Main Street with a flamethrower. :rotfl:

Good job on the weight loss. I've been walking a mile or two a day, and there's small results, but something's better then nothing.

How is Slim in 6? Was thinking of getting it to lose 10-15lbs by October.

I really like it. We've had it for a few years now ... I like that it includes resistance band work for the 2nd and 3rd level workouts and I also like that one workout includes everything - aerobics, resistance work, abdominal work, stretching, and some yoga. It's one workout per day, six days in a row - one day of rest - for six weeks straight. They also like to push their vitamin / food supplements which I ignore.

One other thing that I like is that the workouts are low impact - I have trouble with my joints and my lower back so it's good to have a workout that I won't fail at right away.

And now that I think about it ... I also like that they really encourage participants to take weekly measurements to measure their progress rather than relying solely on the scale. If you stick with it you will see results. :thumbsup2

Congrats to Bendy & Chelle on the weight loss!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I've been having a hard week and it's going to get even harder. My only child, DS 19, is leaving the nest going away to college. I've been "Kyle's Mom" for 19 years and I'm not sure who or what I'll be after he leaves. He's not going far away but it still hurts. I'm so sorry for babbling my depressing stuff here.:sad1:

Hey, don't be sorry ... that's what we're all here for. And you're not going to stop being his mom just because he's going to college ... you're always going to be "Kyle's Mom.":hug:

Don't you be sorry.

It is HARD! Our older DD (our own Kat) desperately wanted to go to my alma mater and when we moved back here she decided to go anyway and live on campus. I cried the day we moved her in ... for the entire 6 minutes it took to get home.

But your life does change. And you will find yourself, Kat. You were something else before Kyle blessed your life. Just imagine how exciting it will be to find out who you are now!

Yay to all the friendies that got what they wanted with the F&W bookings this morning. :thumbsup2

Brenda and Chelle , congrats on the weight loss. :)

Gina, Sorry to hear about your kittie. Our pets are such a part of our family that that losing them feels like losing a piece of yourself.

Catherine, thanks for the DL pics. Napa Rose looks great. :goodvibes

Jamie- Great DL review start, Cant wait to read more. :cool1:

TigerKat- I cried too when my kids went away to college. My son actually went local and stayed home the first two years, so he and my daughter ended up moving out , him about 5 hours away, her 6 states away within a week of each other. But like Elin said, even though your life changes, you will find your way. After the first shock of the kids being gone, my husband and I became alot closer to each other. Just remember, change is life's only constant.
