I was wondering if anyone has been on the Ben and Jerry's factory tour in Vermont? Did you enjoy it ? Was it worth a trip there?

Dh and I will be about 3 hours from there this fall and I LOVE Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and think it sounds fun.....just wanted to see what others thought about the place :) Thanks for any help.

It's fun. If you love the ice cream like you said you do that in itself is worth the trip;) It's a real cute factory, very colorful. Nestled in a BEAUTIFUL part of Vermont. Plus you get a free ice cream sample at the end of the tour:thumbsup2

Come on up, you won't be disappointed.

Personally I thought it was boring and not worth the trip - and we only drove an hour to get there.

My sis, DH and I went on this tour on our way to a wedding in VT years ago. It was really fun. I liked seeing the ice cream being made. I that that our sample flavor from that tour has gone on to the "flavor graveyard," though:laughing:

They have a cool gift shop where you can buy B+J's t-shirts and other merchandise there. I'd recommend going to Stowe for the weekend and making B+J's a stop during the weekend. If I remember correctly, they don't make ice cream on Sunday so plan your tour accordingly.

We have been there twice, both times on Sunday. No tours! So take LOVEBVWBR's advice and plan accordingly.

To be perfectly honest, it is neat, but I would probably not drive three hours for it. Maybe include it as part of a more extensive visit to the area. Stowe is beautiful, and is not far away.

Nic, my Nic!

It was fun--not a non-stop hoot, but fun. Gorgeous scenery! We got tiny tastes of 3 different flavors. There are interesting food 'carts' up there.
Bring cash! Tons of great yard (tag) sales.
Stowe is lovely!
there is a Ren fair--I'll try to find the website for you

I could spend weeks in Vermont, especially in the summer. That tour sounds fun. The samples would get me in trouble....:)

We've been visiting Shelburne Farms pretty regularly and we make a point to drive over to the B&J factory on our visit. It's a fun place to go...the tour is fun, the ice cream is DELISH, as you know, and the gift shop is worth a visit. And like everyone else has said, the scenery is just gorgeous. We take highway 100 (at least, I think that's it!) right up the state into Stowe...it's so beautiful!

I only live 40 minutes from there!

It's fun, but not 3 hour drive fun. Unless you don't have any other plans, driving around vermont in the fall can be a very beautiful thing. The scenery in vermont is worth the 3 hour drive though.

WOW Thanks everyone for all the replies :) I really appreciate the input. I have never been to Vermont and now I hope we can make time for it. There are just too many places to see and too little time.

Hi Nichole! If you go, will you send me back some souveniers? :rotfl:
Of course what are friends for ;)

I did not know that. Thanks :)

Hey Jean  The Ren festive sounds cool. DH and I would like something like that for sure.

Ben and Jerry's was fun. We had a lot of kids with us and they really enjoyed it. If you are going to be in the area I would also recommend the Alpine Slide. It was a blast!!

Thanks for the website, I will be sure to check it out. :)

I agree with most of the others. It's a fun tour, but not worth a six hour round trip. I don't think I'd drive more than an hour or so each way out of my way for it.

The ice cream is always delicious and the souviners are great. We tend to do it whenever we are in the area, but I don't personally think that it is great enough to drive 3 hours just for that.

Everytime I see a post from you I can't help but crack up laughing now because I know your secret ....
