Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

We have rented DVC points for our October trip and are in the same boat you are Robin. I have to make ADRs on Saturday and assume I will need to call that morning (along with half the DIS Boards) for all except our very first one. I ought to be able to make that one online. I also plan to use the online system to tweak daily until satisfied.

I'm not thrilled about having to call for our ADRs either, given the things I've been reading on the restaurant boards about wait times. But I'm hopeful once the full 90+10 has passed that I can use the on-line system to tweak as we need to.

One thing I don't understand ... and maybe someone can explain it to me. If the system doesn't recognize DVC reservation number, how can I even make an ADR? Or once you're less than 90 days does the system just let you make an ADR without a resort reservation number so that you just have to be logged in to the WDW website?

Mornin' Friendies!

oybolshoi, I'd love to chat on the 11th. Sounds fun!

We're finalizing our plans for Oct. The first few days we'll spend with our daughter at Universal. We'll be at WDW Oct 5-12th.

Our dining plans have shaped up this way:
Artist Point
Bistro de Paris (but we're keeping our ears open for more info on Wolfgang Puck's dinner)
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre
(I read enough here to be intrigued! Seemed like a fun spot for a late lunch that day. :thumbsup2)
Party for the Senses (Waiting to hear more about this year. From the Examiner, sounds like the theme will be South America.)
Le Cellier-late lunch, then we plan to go to the Sister Hazel concert.
Kouzzina-early lunch, (sounds like it will be open then)

We'll see how the ADR's go. I have a bit of a plan B working if needed.

I tried to do a little better job of limiting our transit times this year, by matching our plans more closely to where we are staying.

Can't believe tomorrow is the 1st of July. This summer seems to be going by fast! :flower3:

Your ADRs sound yummy - I'd love the Wolfgang Puck dinner, especially if it's hosted upstairs in the Dining Room where we had dinner last Fall.

We limited much of our dining last year based on our home-base being SSR - we had a lot of meals over at Downtown Disney and it worked very well. A lot less Disney transportation headaches that way. We still had some - unavoidable - but it was a lot better than we had any right to expect it to be.

Hey, I finally found a copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies today! :thumbsup2 Haven't made it too far yet, but it's very amusing, especially if you're familiar with the original story and how it's written.

Right now I particularly like how the normal people refer to the zombies as "unmentionables." :rotfl2:

I've never heard of that! It sounds funny. Is it newer, or do you think I can find it at the library?

Since we're talking about drinks, here's a recipe for you. It's a great summer drink! :thumbsup2

Bourbon Slush

2 cups tea
6oz can frozen orange juice
12 oz can frozen lemonade
1 cup sugar
6 cups water
1-2 cups bourbon (depending on what kind of mood you're in :lmao:)

Combine all ingredients and freeze overnight. Enjoy!

That sounds really good!

I can see you're all conspiring to turn me into a lush.

Well...I guess whether or not you've done the actual turning is debatable...perhaps it's just been lurking underneath the surface. pirate:

And I'm still really annoyed about the DVC / travel agent glitch in the on-line system. It takes a special kind of stupid to program that system so that it doesn't recognize those kind of reservations.

Unbelievable. :headache::mad:

If I did something like that in my job I wouldn't have a job any longer. Results matter where I work, but I think that Disney believes they can get away with sub-standard IT because they have an unlimited audience. If I get miffed and start using my DVC points for trips off property who at Disney cares if it's because of what I term poor quality of service? There are twenty people crawling over themselves to nab our villa during October.

Oh well ... I'm just a critic at heart. And I expect more from Disney because they used to expect more from themselves.

Aw. I hear you. It's frustrating to think a company that large can't work out the kinks.

You should have been in my head last night when I was looking for the recipe! :rotfl: I think the original one from AllEars is right... I just didn't know that the Oasis junk was the raspberry puree!

Let me know if they work out!

:rotfl2: I'm definitely going to try one soon. :thumbsup2

I totally have to share something with you. This morning, I just "got" your DIS name. Every time I looked at it, if I looked really fast, it would say "pirate" to me. :lmao: I'm not obsessed, I swear.

But now that I see your tags, with the piano teacher, I totally get it. I took eight years of lessons. It's been a while, but I loved to play. :thumbsup2

Mornin' Friendies!

Mornin'!

Our dining plans have shaped up this way:
Artist Point

I haven't tried this one yet. I'll be looking forward to hearing what you think.

Bistro de Paris (but we're keeping our ears open for more info on Wolfgang Puck's dinner)

Another one I haven't tried, although I've drooled over Bendy's reviews.

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre
(I read enough here to be intrigued! Seemed like a fun spot for a late lunch that day. :thumbsup2)

I can't wait for this one on our trip! :goodvibes

We'll see how the ADR's go. I have a bit of a plan B working if needed.

Good luck with your plans! I'm the same way, I try to match things to where we're going to be to limit transportation fiascos.

Can't believe tomorrow is the 1st of July. This summer seems to be going by fast! :flower3:

I feel the same way.

Thanks!

ChelleinNC???

HI!!!!

I'm not sure what your vice is...well, if you're here it's probably food :lmao:, but if there's anything that could be done to persuade you to procure that perfect recipe for that pina colava concoction, I would be most pleased. Not to mention grateful.

Did I use enough alliteration? :lmao:

:rotfl2: I would be glad to try, but after reading farther Elin took care of it for me :thumbsup2

Actually, I'm not too far from you....Stallings is just outside of Charlotte, right? I'm just up the road in Greensboro.

Yep, I live just outside Charlotte in Union County. I'm a about 1 mile off of 485.

Worked for me! I couldn't bear to think of you pining away for that drink until she came back with it so I looked on AllEarsNet.com and lookie here:

Pina CoLAVA

Preparation:
Pour layer of Island Oasis Raspberry in empty glass. Build remaining ingredients in blender over ice, freeze & pour over raspberry.

1.25 ounces Bacardi Razz
3 ounces Bacardi Pina Colada
1 ounce Island Oasis Raspberry

Cheers!

That sounds yummy! I wouldn't want to wait too long for that

TarzansKat ... the book was just released earlier this year. It's also got great pen and ink drawings of combat scenes. Nothing funnier than seeing Jane and Elizabeth fighting hand-to-hand with a ballroom full of unmentionables. :rotfl2:

I'm sure it must be at library by now ... check the humor section the next time you're there. The authors are Jane Austen (duh, right?) and Seth Grahame-Smith.

::yes:: That is why

:thumbsup2 Glad you got it! Many don't... :rotfl2: There is a guy on the DIS who makes graphics for DISers based on their username. Mine was a big ol' bottle of Pinot Noir. Now, I'm not sayin' it wasn't appropriate... ;)

You should still play! It is the time in your life when you can do things just because, not because someone is making you!

If you are within 90 days you do not need to enter a reservation number at all.

I know, I fell down on the job - no food porn from Hoop de Doo. I forgot to bring a memory card for the camera and could not find one down there under 8G which cost a fortune. The food was good, though! I remember it being good, but I think it was better than I remembered it.

DD has been haunting our public library waiting for this. In the mean time is reading the zombieless version. I think I will just mix me up one of those drinks while we wait...

Indeed she did, but thanks for the sentiment! :goodvibes

Oh, I'll definitely take a look when I'm there.

Have you read Jasper Fforde? I'm assuming you have if you like things like this. I love the Thursday Next series!

I'm just so pirate obsessed, and your name has the same amount of letters, and some similar ones, so my mind goes right there. So bad. :lmao: And :rotfl2: on the Pinot.

You should still play! It is the time in your life when you can do things just because, not because someone is making you!

You're so right! So, so right. :goodvibes

Bummer!!! I was so looking forward to that.

I can't belive the online ADR system doesn't recognize DVC people w/ the 90+10.:scared1: DVC guests are like gauranteed seat fillers in restaurants. Who's in charge of these programs?

The image of that thing (and we were unlucky enough to see it in person) is burned into my retinas ... I can still see it in my head.

It was hideous.

Have a great weekend Heather!

We're headed to WI on Friday for the weekend ... Jay's brother and his family live up there and we haven't paid them a visit for a while so wish me good luck. We're staying at their house with them, their four kids, and two dogs.

You know, normally I'm a very gung ho, yay Disney :cheer2::cheer2: kind of gal, but I could not stand that pink pepto castle.

I was SO glad when they took it down and gave us our castle back. :thumbsup2

Well, since there are 18 of us in the immediate family, and we all not only live within 5 minutes of each other, but also all work together, I've kind of become immune to the insanity that is our crew. But when we are all in the same house, it definitely requires help of the alcoholic variety to make it through!

I'm still thinking of how many cans of paint it took to paint it over and I SWEAR that they team who thought it up are must have been sent to pick up trash in the MK, but that would be putting down those very nice sanitation people... :rotfl2:
